“…Jamil-senpai? Is that you? Ah, I-.. I didn’t expect to see you here, but it’s good to see you again. …How have you been? Have you… gotten a chance to travel the world?”
(Romantic + assume in the context of lots of things left unsaid in the past, feelings never pursued etc., either interaction or hcs whichever’s easier! Congrats on 10k+ Raven!! 🎉🎉)
What comes after Ever After?
“Ah.”
He turns when you call his name, and it’s like cupid’s arrow has shot through your chest, tearing that tender flesh apart. It’s him alright. The boy from 10 years ago, the one you almost gave your heart to—but then didn’t.
Jamil is as viper-like as ever. His form is slim and lithe, the muscle of a dancer—and trained bodyguard—concealed behind a set of demure terracotta robes with golden stitching. Dark, glossy hair falls loose over one shoulder, feathering a swan-like neck, the rest tumbling down his back adorned with beading and bangles akin to glistening scales. The pointedness to his gaze had sharpened with age, almost like he had used a knife to draw on his eyeliner.
His face is like it was before. A mask of placidity, an unreadable emotion set in the grey of his eyes—but you catch the slight purse of his lips when he glimpses you.
“… I didn’t expect to reunite with you here myself. Hello again.” Jamil humbly lowers his head in a bow, the accessories woven into his hair clinking together. Professional, formal. “It has been many a moon.”
Too many to count.
But you know, deep down, you had counted every last one of them. The glowing white orb in the sky as it waxed into existence and waned out of it… Cycling endlessly. Many nights had been spent staring out of a window, arm draped over the sill, tracing the cut of his profile in the crevices and craters of the moon.
Sometimes, using your pointer and thumb, you'd pretend to pluck that pearl out of the sky. You imagined it as a grape. Tangible, easy to have and to hold.
So close, yet so far. Untouchable, unteachable for you. Always wondering about what could have been.
You push down the sadness welling within you, forcing your happiness.
“You look as though you have something to say.” He inclines his head, and his hair seems to spill like wine into a glass. “And here I thought I was the one being asked to share my secrets.”
“Y-You are.”
There’s a faint, melodious chuckle. It blows off the dust that coats your memories, rattling them to life.
Jamil cups a hand around his mouth and whispers. Those lips are scandalous—you feel as though a snake’s forked tongue might dart out from between them, tempting you to take a bite of some forbidden fruit.
“Then shall I steal you away and bend your ear?" His eyes cut to the ongoing reunion, the chaos of it. Students chatting loudly, music bumping, fruit punch sloshing. "I fear that this celebration, amusing as it is, isn’t the most conducive for spinning my globetrotting stories.”
"Oh...!" You lit up. "So you were able to travel?"
"Predominantly for business trips, yes--though I suppose it still counts as travel. You've yet to see it for yourself, correct?" He lays a hand over his chest, offering you the other. "There's time to spare. Let me share the whole world with you."
Your heart flutters at the sight.
Is this... what I think it is? The start of something new?
In a dream-like trance, you find yourself automatically slipping your hand into his. He's slightly cool to the touch, like how you imagine the scales of a snake to be.
The moon.
You're holding it, holding him.
Jamil smiles.
At last, he has you, too.
"And perhaps, while we're at it, you would care to regale me with stories of your own. You have me curious about what it is you've been keeping to yourself all this time."

After working since 6:30 in the morning for back-to-back photoshoots, Scaramouche finally gets an hour of rest. It wasn't nearly enough, but that's the life of a model. In his private room, a few snacks were laid out on his desk as he scrolled through social media, where all he saw was his own face and fans praising him—not that he minded.
But that brief moment of peace quickly disappeared when he found himself in the company’s public restroom, with you—his impatient lover.
"Cut it out, you idiot!" Scaramouche whispered sharply, pulling away from you, though the resistance was half-hearted at best. He was enjoying it too, though he'd never openly admit it. "I still have more photoshoots to do..!"
Scaramouche tried to keep his voice steady, his hands pressing lightly against your chest as you leaned in closer, teasing him further. "I don’t have time for this,” he hissed, though his body betrayed him as he didn’t make much of an effort to stop you. His face flushed slightly, betraying his cool demeanor as you smirked in response.
You pulled him closer by the waist, one hand going down to tug his thigh garter. “You still have an hour, don't you?” You pouted, kissing the side of his face and trailing down to his neck.
“Yeah, an hour of break. Not for this nonsense!” Scaramouche hissed, his voice barely above a whisper as he tried to keep his composure.
As you pepper his neck with kisses, you can feel him gulping and hitching, desperately trying to suppress any noise that might come out. His hands travel up to your shoulders, pushing you away though not with his full strength.
“This is a break. Just let me take care of you.” You whisper as you ruffle with the buttons of his cropped jacket, which soon falls to the ground, revealing his highneck undershirt along with the fishnets that surround his collarbones.
“My jacket–” Scaramouche’s eye twitched as he snatched it from the floor and threw it over the door hook. “Could you at least try not to mess up my clothes?” he huffed, crossing his arms and glaring at you.
That glare of his, you could never hate it, and especially when you knew you were the reason for it. “Sorry, sweetheart,” You apologized halfheartedly before pushing his back on the bathroom door, reaching in for a passionate kiss.
His protests are soon muffled, and everytime he'd open his lips, you'd just take the opportunity and invade his mouth with your tongue.
As you pull away, you're met with a flick of Scaramouche's tongue. “You're smudging my lipstick,” He complained, wiping the corner of his lip with his thumb, the lipstick smearing onto his skin in a faint stain.
A soft chuckle escaped your lips. “If it's swollen enough, there won't be a difference, ♡” you teased, leaning in closer as his eyes narrowed at the remark, though his blush betrayed him.
“Loosen up a little, Scara,” Your voice dripped with playful affection. Your fingers played with the waistband of his black shorts, the fastened belt already removed before Scaramouche could even notice.
You could practically hear your lover scrambling and still protesting yet all you responded with was a smirk as his shorts slid down along with his garments, sagging over his feet.
All those complaints just for his tip to already be leaking with precum, the entirety of it just begging for attention. The tint on Scaramouche's cheeks increased, and even more as your palm came in contact with his shaft.
“Fuck–[name]..! ♡” The indigo haired whimpered, his fingers instantly gripping your shoulders. Your thumb swirled the fluid on his tip, smearing it across his length to create a steady pace as you stroke it.
“Look at you.. already a whimpering mess after a few strokes,” Even with his eyes closed, he could hear the smirk in every word you spit out. “S-Shut–mnnh! Shut up..” Scaramouche prompted.
Luckily for the model, the ventilation in the bathroom muffles the wet squelching sound along with his soft moans. He won't live it down if somebody comes in and hears his humiliating sounds, the industry won't react well with a scandal about him..
But with your proximity, those sounds are nowhere near soft. It's sultry; tempting. If it wasn't for your impatience, you'd keep him here and leave him writhing just with the touch of your hands.
Alas, the need was too much—your own trousers joined Scaramouche's on the floor. Your cock slips free, and you entwine it with his in one hand, stroking them simultaneously. “M-My clothessngh.. don't stainhAh♡..~” Scaramouche mewled with his eyes almost rolling back.
The extra sensation increased your lover’s sensitivity, legs shaking. If it wasn't for his tight grip on your shoulders, he'd collapse on the bathroom floor immediately.
Still, you have an extra hand, don't you? It isn't so busy now after Scaramouche feels the digits creeping up to his ass, teasing the entrance.
“No.. [name].. don't touchAH♡♡ngh?!” A whine leaves Scaramouche's lips, his hips bucking forward, making his cock stick closer with yours. This just seems like a trap now—if he moved back, he'd just feel your fingers deeper inside; if he moved forward, you'd be able to rub his cock with yours more efficiently.
As if reading his mind, you took the initiative and pressed against him further. With your lengths together and his hole stretched with your fingers, his head leaned back on the door. Biting his lip wasn't even working anymore, all he could do was moan and hope nobody would walk in at any time.
“Too mucshh.. hah–♡” Scaramouche breathed, his voice trembling as his body tensed from the pleasure. Your actions slowed to a stop, your arms snaking under his legs to his hips, lifting him up with his feet dangling up in the air.
Scaramouche looks at you with a confused look until your grip tightens, and you pressed him firmly against the door, the new angle causing his face to flush. His confusion fades as he feels your cock teasing his entrance.
“Wait– [Name], don’thngK–♡♡!” His disapproval fell short as you've already pushed your tip inside, a soft cry leaving your lover’s lips. “Bastard..! N-Not herenn..”
You fully bottom out and a gasp collectively leaves the both of you. His walls clenched as he felt himself being stretched to make way for your length.
“We'll be quick–”
“We'll be quick my ass!”
A grin appears on your lips—even when filled to the brim, Scaramouche still has the guts to dispute you. Your hips start to move, thrusting into him. His body bounced from your hold, whining every time he feels your tip hitting his prostate.
Scaramouche's back arched off the door, his hand instinctively gripping on your hair, while his head fell to your shoulder, muffling the soft sounds escaping his lips. At this point, the state of his lipstick didn’t matter—it was completely smeared, his makeup now a mess. The tears pricking at the corners of his eyes, mixed with the dark streaks of his mascara. Next time, waterproof mascara might be a better idea.
“I’m goiing to cumhnn..♡” He prompts. “Already?”
“Fuck you–!”
“Quite the opposite, isn't it?” You grinned.
It was evident that his climax was approaching, the way his breaths became shallow and uneven, each exhale mingled with soft whimpers that escaped his lips. You could feel him clenching around your cock, his body writhed against you, seeking more as he instinctively gripped tighter on your hair, as if grounding himself in the moment.
“Close.. ‘m closenh♡hn,” he gasped, eyes fluttering shut, his lips parting as he chased the sweet release that was just within reach.
You quickened your pace slightly, reveling in the way his body reacted, the desperate moans spilling from his mouth urging you on. “Cum for me, pretty boy ♡,” you whispered, your voice coaxing him toward the edge.
He bit on your shoulder, trying to stifle the cries that threatened to escape, but it was futile. “‘M comi–hngGH♡♡♡!” His eyes shot open and rolled back, ropes of cum shooting out and staining your clothes. With him tightening around you, your own climax follows.
The stall is filled with heavy breaths as you both come down from your high, Scaramouche's legs twitching in the air, now folding on your arms. His skin glistens with a light sheen of sweat, and the aftermath of your shared moment hangs in the air. You gently lower him, letting his legs wrap loosely around your waist.
Scaramouche leans back against the door, his chest heaving as he tries to regain his composure.
“This is the last time we're doing this,” he mutters, a hint of playful annoyance in his tone as he wipes a tear away, smudging more of the black cosmetic across his cheek.
You laugh, the sound echoing softly in the small stall. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
This was definitely not going to be the last time.

Lime Green Jell-O; Peter Maximoff x Reader
summary: Reader is in a situationship with Peter Maximoff. It's been casual on both ends, or so you thought. You think he's jealous and you decide to tease a little hard. Peter can't take the heat, though.
word count: 2K!
w a r n i n g s: shameless smut, smut with a little plot, unprotected sex, fingering, mentions of jealousy, possible jealousy kink.
a/n: anonymous request! you guys keep asking me to write Peter, and I'm nervous every single time, istg. I hope it delivered, and you enjoyed reading it! ps: dividers are by firefly-graphics!
full fic under cut! ↓ / ao3 link here! / I don't have a taglist, but please turn on post notifications if you want to be notified of future fics!
Peter sat bolt upright, as if you’d just announced the most horrible thing in the world. Which to him, you had.
"So, you've been seeing other guys?" Peter asked painfully casually, working overtime to control the pitch of his voice. Any hint of his true feelings and he'd be done for.
You scoffed, feigning offense. "Of course I have." You gulped down the last bit of soda, and crawled over on the bed to throw it in the bin. Most of your free days were spent in his room, fooling around, playing video games with him, and watching whatever cheesy movie he’d put on. He seemed to think you had extra free-time that you’d spent with other guys.
Though it was only a nano-second, Peter's brows furrowed, and his lips frowned. You narrowed your eyes, and he immediately shifted in his jacket, returning to his previous state. No way she saw that. No way -- it was too fast. He darted to the bed, standing in front of you.
Getting to your knees, you squared up. Inhaled and closed your mouth, crossing your arms firmly across your chest, underneath your breasts. Your shirt was low-cut enough that he saw the shift in your cleavage. He clenched his jaw, averting his dark eyes elsewhere. This wasn’t the time to start getting a stiffie.
"Peter," you started, a reprimanding tone in your voice. If he was going to pull the loyalty card now… you smirked. "The first time we hooked up you said, and..." You brought your fingers up to make quotes in the air, in front of his face. "I quote: 'Nothin' serious, babe'. So....."
Damn. Peter pushed his lips forward, nodding. "Right, yeah, I did say that. And I so totally meant it."
"Good, so… you shouldn't care if things are getting pretty serious with one of them. Like... really serious. Serious enough that we might have to stop hanging out as much." Bam. Mic drop.
That was a lie; a blatant one. Little did he know, you had been dating casually, but doing so completely uninterested. No one had matched your silver speedster; not in sex, not in personality, not in anything. He had zipped his way into your heart and wasn’t leaving. You weren’t about to let him know that though, and decided to dig a little deeper with the teasing. He was cute when he was jealous… which he was. You knew it.
Instead of confessing everything right then and there, Peter stiffened and mirrored your position; arms crossed over his muscled chest. He shook his head and shrugged. Cool as cucumber. No way were you winning this one.
You smirked again, this time, raising a single brow. "Are you... jealous, Maximoff?"
"Pffffbfbbtbt." Peter blew air through his lips, slicing his hand through the air like he was swatting a fly away. "Totally not jealous."
"Good, because if you were, you'd hate to hear that Tommy and I went on the most adorable date the other night, and he was --"
His hands flew up, waving slightly. "Woah, don't need to hear the deetz, babe. No thanks."
"Oh no? I think you are jealous... I absolutely think you are, because..."
Peter's fingers shushed you, smushing into the fullness of your pout. He didn't want to hear the (probably one-hundred percent correct) explanation that followed the 'because'. Your eyebrows flew up on your forehead, expectantly. You tried to speak through his finger, but he pressed harder. Peter screwed up his expression before rolling his eyes towards the ceiling. He huffed a breath, and looked back at you.
You yanked your face away, narrowing your eyes into knowing slits. You barked out a laugh, unable to control it. He had always been a terrible liar, but this took the cake. “Oh, you totally are. You are lime-green Jell-o, Peter.”
“I am not.”
“Are too.” You jabbed your index finger into his pec. “You so are.”
He huffed and dropped his arms. You weren’t budging, and if he kept up, you’d win. He knew it, you knew it. It was a good old-fashioned standoff. You cocked your hip out to the side.
"Okay, so maybe I am jealous. Fine. Sure. Whatever. Now, c'mere."
Exhaling heavy over his bottom lip, Peter took hold of your face and pulled you into a warm kiss. The tips of his fingers stroked your hairline, urging you closer to him - as close as he could get you without melting into you. Surprised, your eyes widened into the kiss, but after a few seconds, you couldn’t help but melt into him.
"Peter, Peter," you murmured into his lips, pushing away slightly to look over his face with a weighted gaze. "You're really jealous?"
Saying nothing, he nodded heavily and went back to kissing you, his tongue slipping along your bottom lip before breaching. You whimpered into his lips, the vibration tickling slightly. Peter pressed his chin into yours, gently forcing you to scoot backwards on the bed. The kiss deepened for a moment before Peter broke it, his dark orbs scanning your face.
“Yeah,” he whispered over your lips before urging your back against the mattress. “I am super jell-o…” He mocked.
“Want you for myself. All for myself. Okay? Just… lemme’...”
Peter nuzzled your neck, soft lips ghosting the skin and peppering kisses from your ear lobe down to your collarbone. Just above there, he began suckling the skin, pulling it into his mouth. He sucked harder and harder until you finally yelped, jerking your head away slightly. The skin left his mouth with a wet pop.
"Ow! Peter, what are you doing?"
"Markin' my territory.... err.... something." He pulled back to look at his handiwork. The skin where he'd been sucking was scarlet, heading to purple, and by that evening, it would be a wicked bruise. A little gift for whoever you saw next, if it wasn't him.
He grinned as you rubbed at the skin, feeling the tenderness of it. “Did you just give me a hickey?”
“Maaaybe.”
“You dork,” you murmured. Peter crushed his lips against yours again, inhaling your scent. His hands trailed up your waist, gripping it hungrily. This is exactly what you’d thought about earlier; every time he touched you, it felt electric, and nobody had even come close to that sensation. You bucked your hips up into his, grinding against the tent in his sweatpants. Peter pressed back against you, hissing through his teeth at the sudden welcome friction. Beneath the fabric, you felt the heat and pressure of his hardening cock and whined.
“What the heck d’ya want, babe? What am I doin’ wrong here? You want a romantic? You want a casanova?”
“No,” you started, raking your nail along his t-shirt, the fabric catching underneath your nail and exposing his luscious neck just a little bit. “I just want you, Peter. Only you. No other guys matter, and I only… I only said that because you said it was casual, I didn’t want to seem desperate.”
“I dunno, I think I’m actin’ pretty desperate right now.” He rutted his hips against you, his cock bumping into your cloth-covered cunt again. You bit your lip, rolling your eyes back. Every whimper, moan and mewl you made coursed through his veins, straight to his dick. They made it ache, and burn, and he couldn’t help but roll his hips against yours, dry-humping you urgently.
“Fuck me, Peter.”
Just what he wanted to hear. He nodded in response and brought his fingers to the waistband of your pajama pants, slipping inside. He drug his middle finger up along your folds, smearing your precum over the warm flesh. You were already so wet, Peter grit his teeth, slipping a single digit inside. You vocalized at the sensation, and he slipped another finger in, pumping them in and out slowly. You loved when he did that; just felt you, played with you like a little sex toy.
His nimble fingers slipped out, and began toying with your cunt, making tiny, quick circles on your swollen clit. The muscles of your thighs quivered hard and deep with every pass of the pad of his finger. He always knew how to make you writhe around, practically shivering with pleasure. You felt the wetness pooling underneath your ass and whimpered, shyly. You always got so wet around him, almost to the point of embarrassment. Peter never made fun, though; if anything, he was always delighted by it, and loved to feel it soaking through the fabric of your cute, little patterned panties.
As he flicked at your sensitive spots, your lids drooped shut, thinking about how good he was going to feel. It pressed against your hip, hard and demanding, like it was searching for somewhere to go. You couldn’t wait anymore.
“Gimmie that cock,” you whispered against his ear before nipping at his lobe. Higher than he wanted to, he whined and withdrew his fingers, planting them on your hip bone.
“Mm’yeah…. gonna’ give it to you,” he nodded, breathless. “‘Cause you want it bad, right?”
“Yeah, I do. The only one I want.”
Wasting no time, Peter freed his throbbing dick from his sweatpants. It bounced heavily in front of you, the searing hot tip pressing against your tummy. Biting your lip, you took it in your hand, giving it a few generous pumps. You then pushed his cock between your legs, lining it up with your slit and forcing the tip in for him. The action sent a shockwave through his body; he jerked up and groaned. “Fuuuuck…”
Peter threw your legs over his shoulders, angling your body up.
“C’mon, give it to me…”
He clenched his teeth and bottomed out, slamming the lower half of his toned body into yours. It filled you, stretching your walls and pressing against them in the most erotic, tantalizing way. He found a rhythm quickly, and made sure to keep it, his balls slapping against your ass as he thrust into you. You threw your head back and let out a breathy moan, pressing your head into the pillow. You swallowed, wetting your throat and looked back up at him.
Above you, Peter was extra-whiny today. Sweat collected on his forehead, beading up before ribboning down his temples. His silver hair stuck together in clumps, and when he looked from your pussy to your eyes, he smiled weakly. He was fucking you hard, harder than he usually did and you could only assume it was because he was taking out his aggression, his jealousy.
“Oooh, yeah, just like that, baby… Just like that. You’re so… you’re so jealous.” Your words were punctured by lewd moans and breaths, but you finally got out the teasing statement. Then, Peter did something he didn’t usually do. He gripped your shoulders and pulled you onto his cock over and over again, relentlessly, bucking his hips up to meet yours with every thrust. The tip of his cock hammered your cervix, hitting your deepest parts. Your jaw dropped, brows peaking together as he fucked you.
“....oh….oh my fuckin’....”
“....shit-shit-shit, Peter…”
Your pussy clenched around his cock, and you couldn’t control it. She fluttered, coating his dick in warmth. Peter groaned, closer than ever.
“You should… you should be –” You moaned, digging your nails into his shoulders. “...be jealous more often.”
That did it. Peter lost it, spurting his white heat inside of you, pumping it deep. A melody of groans between the both of you filled the room, as the thrusts slowed and the sweat dripped. He collapsed on top of you, kissing every inch of bare skin that he could find.
After a few moments, he snapped up, hands on either side of your head. He looked down at you with a quirked brow, and a mischievous smile. You grinned back at him, lust-blown and giddy. You loved these afternoons, where you just fucked each other like teenagers.
“Wanna’ play some video games? Or did you have another lame-o date planned?”
You sniggered. “The only lame-o I’m dating is you.”

[lando norris masterlist / f1 masterlist]
ʚɞ in which... lando tries to seem cooler to the girl he just met... badly. ʚɞ fluff, angst ⋆⭒˚.⋆ 1000 words ʚɞ warnings: drinking, tiny mention of sex
-୨♡୧-
The first time you met Lando, the sky was a heavy shade of grey, with a biting chill in the air that made it feel later than it was. The overcast clouds loomed low, casting an early darkness over the street as you made your way into a small coffee shop. Just as you reached for the door, someone else was coming out, and you collided head-on.
"I—oh—sorry," you both stammered at the same time, awkwardly stepping left, then right, trying to dodge each other. After a clumsy shuffle, Lando finally stepped aside, letting you pass with an apologetic smile.
"Thanks," you muttered, squeezing through the narrow space between him and the door. You couldn’t help but notice the way he unabashedly glanced you over as you moved past him, his eyes lingering a beat too long.
As you walked inside, he hesitated at the doorway, replaying the words of his friends in his mind—how they constantly teased him about meeting women on dating apps like Raya or Tinder. He sighed, feeling a sudden urge to break that cycle.
"Hey—wait!" he called out, letting go of the door and quickly stepping back into the café after you. You turned around, surprised. "Sorry if this is, uh, too forward," he began, slightly out of breath, "but... can I get your number?"
Normally, your answer would’ve been a quick "no." But his boyish charm, combined with the memory of your friends’ recent teasing about how "painfully single" you were, gave you pause. He wasn’t bad looking either. You found yourself nodding. "Sure."
He blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting you to agree, but quickly fumbled for his phone. Handing it to you, he watched as you typed in your number, saving it under your name with a small coffee cup emoji. You smiled as you handed it back, and he flashed a relieved grin.
"Thanks!" he said, almost sounding a little too eager. "I'll text you," he promised, before excusing himself and heading out, leaving you standing there, wondering if you'd just made the right decision—or an interesting mistake.
And he did text you! Not even 30 minutes later…
It was simple. Plain. Almost a little boring…. “Hello.”
Very formal…
You shrug it off, typing back “Hiii”
-
After a week of texting back and forth, filled with playful banter and a surprising amount of chemistry, Lando finally asked you out. He suggested a fancy restaurant downtown, but made it clear he couldn’t do the weekend because of “work.” The vagueness of his excuse gnawed at you a little, but you brushed it off, agreeing to meet him on a weekday evening.
When the night arrived, you showed up at the restaurant dressed in one of your favorite outfits, feeling a mix of anticipation and nerves. The place was elegant—vines curled along the walls, the lighting was soft and low, casting a warm glow over the intimate space. You were seated by a window, the perfect spot to watch the city outside as you waited. Checking your phone, you noticed you were ten minutes early. No big deal, right? He’s probably just running a bit late.
Now it's 6:00 p.m. on the dot. Any minute now, you think, tapping your fingers lightly on the table.
… 6:15 rolls around. Maybe he’s stuck in traffic, you reason, trying to push away the creeping doubt. You decide to order a glass of wine, glancing at the entrance every few seconds.
… 6:30. That sinking feeling starts to settle in your chest. Maybe I’m stupid for even coming, you think, swirling the wine in your glass, staring at the door like it might open any second. But it doesn’t.
… 6:40. You’ve had enough. You flag down the waiter, pay for your single glass of wine, and gather your things, your heart heavy with disappointment.
Shrugging on your coat, you step out into the cold evening, the once-anticipated night crumbling into frustration. The sky is dark, the clouds heavy and brooding, as if reflecting your mood. Then, as if to make things worse, the heavens open, unleashing a torrent of rain. You huff in annoyance, pulling your coat tighter around you as the rain soaks through the fabric.
With your head down, you walk the short distance home, the city lights blurring through the downpour. The night feels darker than it should, and by the time you reach your door, drenched and exhausted, you can’t help but wonder how you ever let yourself get caught up in the idea of this date in the first place.
It’s 19:10 when you get a text
He was already there when you arrived, waiting. You had taken your time on purpose, dragging out your arrival as a small act of petty revenge. When you finally showed up, he seemed almost jumpy, as if someone had slapped him across the face. His expression was a mess of nerves and tension—until his eyes found you. Instantly, the worry melted away, and relief washed over his features.
"Thank god—hi—I’m so, so sorry," he stammered, words tumbling out in a frantic stream. He couldn’t stop apologizing, his voice hurried and almost desperate. You just stood there, silently watching him flounder through his rambling until he finally slowed, realizing you hadn't said a word.
"Are you done?" you asked, your voice cutting through the air like a sharp knife. He nodded, speechless, looking at you with wide eyes.
"Good."
An awkward pause hung between you two before he spoke up again. "We can still get food... I’m sure there’s a good takeout place nearby," he suggested, his voice unsure.
You raised an eyebrow, tilting your head slightly. "You’re not from around here?" you asked, genuinely puzzled.
"I... travel a lot for work," he replied, hesitating like he wasn’t quite sure how much to reveal.
You couldn’t help but laugh. "Like a pilot?"
He hesitated again, his lips twitching into a half-smile. "You could call it that..."
Shaking your head with a soft chuckle, you turned on your heel. "Well, I know a good spot." Without waiting for a response, you began walking away. It took him a second to process what had just happened, and then he scrambled to catch up with you, hurrying to fall into step by your side.
You take him to the takeout just by your house, “I’ll pay,” you say simply, taking your card out but he literally snatches it from your hands and puts it back in your pocket.
“I stood you up- kind of- im paying.” he says, “They dont have seats in here…” He says quietly, wondering where exactly theyre going to sit.
“Oh, thats fine my house is only close, we can go back to mine.”
Now in Lando’s head, from the many dates he’s been on, he prays that means sex.
With you though, he prays that means you forgiven him.

thinking about taking advantage of satoru gojo when he's high.
it's not like you mean to, at first. you didn't get him high on purpose.
in fact it was more him taking advantage of you, actually, eating those weed brownies you'd left out to cool on the shared dorm's kitchen counter.
and it's innocent, at first. you stumble on him, and the completely finished pan of brownies, rightly infuriated at the white-haired man lounging back on your couch.
but it's hard to get angry at him, lying there all sweet and docile. pupils blown wide like the smile stretched lazily across his face.
satoru croons your name, voice all sing-song, with that pretty face looking up at you. starry-eyed.
he hums noncommittally when you accuse him of eating your brownies, and giggles when you press him.
"honestly, i did you a favor. they had this weird aftertaste," he laughs, and you have to bite your tongue.
at this point, you're still being nice, still being a good friend. because why wouldn't you? you are a good friend. forgiving his useless ass even though he ate a batch worth a hundred bucks.
when you reach out to help him up, satoru makes another giddy laugh, pulling you down.
he's far too heavy to resist, of course, and so you fall onto him, into his long, lanky arms that wrap themselves around you.
"wowwww," he sniggers, "did you just fall for me? how embarrassing for you."
even when he's high, satoru gojo has a gift for making your heart flutter and making you want to smack him at once.
he's annoying - god, is he annoying - but his embrace is surprisingly comfortable. he nuzzles his head into your hair like a cat.
"mmh. warm~" you think he purrs like one, too, tightening his embrace.
ugh. he smells like weed.
"get up, dumbass. how long have you even been here?"
"don't wanna." naturally, he completely ignores your question.
luckily, though, in his inebriated state he doesn't have the coordination to stop you from pulling back.
but he does make a whine, a little pitiful noise combined with his outstretched arms and his shining eyes that tugs on your heartstrings more than they should.
dirty little thief. you pull him up and he stumbles to his feet, shamelessly leaning on you.
"woah there," he moans, wincing, and you feel bad for once - the six eyes might be hurting him, "easy on the goods, babe."
you no longer feel bad.
maybe that's when it started. he leans on you, so much weight, but stumbles with you as you pull him along to his bed.
he tumbles into it, dizzy, movements slow and halting.
"it's hot in here," he whines, pulling up his shirt.
satoru gets it halfway there but can't quite make it. it's hilarious to watch. he's stuck with his shirt over his head, chest and abs exposed as his face is covered and he groans and moans like the loserboy he is.
god, does he look good. all his fine musculature bared for your viewing pleasure.
he groans from underneath his shirt, squirming, another hand reaching his pants and trying to pull them down.
there's only a few moments of struggle before he flops down, pitifully, stuck with his arms and face trapped in his shirt over his head. like some kind of human earthworm.
he makes another one of this pitiful moans.
yes, this is it, you think. this is about where you should leave.
but your feet don't carry you out.
instead, your hands freely roam his toned abs. they flex underneath you as satoru undulates, groaning and whimpering some more at the contact.
you think he likes being like this, some pitiful helpless creature squirming beneath you.
and maybe you're right, or maybe it's just the contact, or maybe it's just because he's high, but you see a bulge in his boxers, exposed from his unbuttoned pants.
you're still being helpful when you pull them down (god, those thighs, his legs really went on with miles. and so smooth, does he wax?) and he kicks them off, so he must have wanted that.
you're definitely being helpful when you pull his shirt up over his head, but not off his arms, so that you can see his face.
it's flushed red (he'd said it was hot in here) but he's still so cute.
and it's really not your fault for indulging him. who could refuse him when he's like that? soft and needy, all fluffy hair and dreamy eyes.
so big, so blue. blinking away tears.
"what... where..." breathless, he shivers beneath you.
you watch his pupils contract, and blow wide again. six eyes adjusting, re-adjusting. you brush a nipple with your arm and he squeals, squinting his eyes shut.
"too bright," he mutters.
you kiss his eyes, lick his tears away, and he sighs in relief.
"you..." he breathes.
nuzzling your cheek against his, you hum back. "me."
"you're... you... what are you..." bleary eyes open up at you. they can't focus, though, and he winces at the light.
his arms wiggle over his head, but if he really wanted, he could have gotten out (never mind he can barely walk).
he doesn't tell you to stop. you don't take his boxers off, either, you just straddle him and grind.
satoru's so fucking pretty when he whines at the contact. his head raises up, arms straining as if to reach out to you.
his eyes are still blown wide, dazed and glassy. lips wedged open as if in passionate expectation.
can you really be blamed for giving him a kiss? when he's such a vision?
his whole body reacts to the contact. hungry, curling up into you, bucking into the heat of your crotch pressing into his.
he's hard, now, really hard, bulging against his boxers and up against your pulsing cunt.
it's not taking advantage if he so obviously wants it too, isn't it? even if his arms are still struggling to slip out of his shirt.
those pretty eyes tear up when they look up at you. that beautiful mouth, swollen lips falling open and closing again, helpless to form words. his whole face contorts in pleasure as you keep grinding over him.
lost, hazy, the heat swells between you. even you have to bury your hands in the sheets, in his feather-soft hair, twisting as you reach your peak.
his voice is normally so smooth, so assured, and now it's a warbling, shuddering thing, syrup-sweet little gasps of pleasure hot against your neck.
that heavenly friction of you against him. his pretty pink nipples pebble up for you, and he gives these pained, drawn-out whimpers as you pinch at them.
"good. you're so good for me, satoru, you feel so good," you whisper, even though you're not sure he can hear it at all.
sensitive. keening. he twitches and pants and you feel him press himself up into you harder.
beautiful, so beautiful. the fine muscles of his chest straining as he arches up into you, bucking his clothed cock up into your cunt.
there's a wet spot on it now to match the patch on your panties.
you pull his head up for another kiss; you have to hold him up by the neck. he's limp, dizzy in your hold.
drool pools at the corner of his mouth, tears staining his cheeks.
god, he's gorgeous. and gone to the world. the delicate features of his face swollen and flushed in the afterglow.
you help the rest of his shirt off. he doesn't resist, doesn't help, doesn't move at all, but you can tell he's breathing.
he curls up the instant he's in the bed, limbs latching around you. it's a struggle to disentangle yourself (he wanted this, wanted you, it's proof) but you manage.
you leave a glass of water. painkillers.
you try not to think of what he'll say to you when he wakes up.

"hey!" satoru catches your attention, quite intentionally, the next day. waving you down.
you turn to him. keep your face cool. "what is it?"
the smile on his face is wide, unassuming, just a few too many teeth.
"those brownies were great! make them again?"

Part 2.
Summary: Matt's career as a youtuber takes a toll on his 4 year relationship with his girlfriend, putting it on hold. Will it ever be the same again?
Pairings: Y/n x Matt Sturniolo
Warnings: angst, mentions of anxiety, unresolved angst (maybe)
A/N: (guys this is my first fic so please bear with me😭 l would love some feedback or tips though!!)
I was sitting on the couch scrolling through my phone and channel surfing, waiting for my boyfriend, Matt, to get back from filming a car video with his brothers, Chris and Nick. But over the course of the last couple of months, Matt has been distant and there was a rather uncomfortable feeling sitting in my chest. He would make up excuses as to why he couldn't hang out with me like he was filming, editing or streaming. It made me overthink. Did I do something? Does he still love- No, of course he still loves me. Right?
It was all too much and it gave me anxiety. Sure, I understand his career as a Youtuber can be a handful but I can't help but feel a bit neglected and it makes me feel guilty.. I sit there thinking for a moment, taking in the cool autumn smell that roamed through the house, listening to the patter of the soft rain drops falling onto the windows, trying to think of a way that I could get Matt to spend time with me.
I decide to cook a nice dinner for matt and I or at least attempt to, so I stand up and I head to the kitchen and decide on some ravioli which takes me about an hour but I did it.
Flashback
"What are you gonna get to eat?" | asked Matt.
"I'm not sure.. you know for a fancy restaurant, you'd think they'd have a variety of options." He says before raising his eyebrow at me, showing me the menu and we both chuckle.
"Our first date and i'm already messing up huh?" He says with a nervous chuckle.
"What?? No! you're not messing up i'm having fun." I said with a smile, reaching over the table to hold his hand and he gave me a lighthearted smile.
"Ravioli is the only decent thing they got here, think i'll go with that." He says closing the menu. "See? It's not all that bad, I just so happen to love ravioli. I think I can go for some too.” I smile.
Present
I set up the table with bowls and utensils before making my way to the bathroom and realize that look a bummy mess so l spend the rest of the time I had left before he got back to make myself look at least a little presentable. I feel an overwhelming but nice sense of excitement to spend time with him again. I change into a casual but nice outfit and decide to do a simple and natural makeup look.
I soon hear the sound of the front door opening and chattering following behind it. I make my way out of the room to greet Matt who was laughing with chris and nick.
"Hey baby! How was filming??" | say almost too enthusiastically but I was too excited to keep my cool. "It was alright." He says nonchalantly, which makes me turn my happy demeanor down a notch.
Chris goes downstairs to get ready for something and Nick goes upstairs to do the same. Leaving matt and I alone which was perfect so I take the chance.
"I made-" before I could say anything Matt interrupted me. "Hey, me nick and chris are gonna go to top golf with madi, and nate so I might be home a little late." My heart sinks and i'm flushed with dread but I don't give up so easily.
"Well I actually made dinner for us.. I was hoping we could spend a little time together since we haven't in a while." | say fiddling with my necklace getting a bit anxious.
"I'm sure it's amazing baby but I should go get ready, Save me some yeah?" He says, placing a gentle kiss on my temple before he walks towards our shared bedroom to get ready.
I sit at the table where our food is now cold and I feel a lump in my throat followed by a cold sinking feeling in my chest.
658 words.
A/N: (This is sloppy and I kind of hate it, js wanted to try this out to see what yall think. if you guys like it, i'll keep writing, if not then im never writing again and since it's my first fic I kept it short but if you guys like it, i'll make the next parts longer 🫶🏼)

[ ###… ] modern AU, rockstar Wriothesley, gn reader, est. relationship, a lil bit of hurt/comfort, fluff, long-distance pining, lovesick & homesick wrio, kinda cheesy which is kind of on brand for me lol
By the time Wriothesley manages to get back to his hotel room and check his phone, he's pretty sure you're asleep. He hopes you are, knowing how late it must be on your end.
It's no surprise that there are several messages waiting for him— each day you've been apart, you give him something sweet to read in the evenings after a busy day of promos or after a hectic show. Something to make the distance between you seem a little less vast, to let him know that you're still thinking about him.
Even on days where he's dead tired, he'll always read them. Always let you know that he thinks of you, too.
What does surprise him is the newest text, sent at just over twenty minutes ago. Wriothesley frowns as he wonders why you're still up, and his heart only drops more when he scrolls through the messages and reads the latest thing you sent.
I miss you. I really, really miss you.
Before he can even hope that he's not bothering you, his finger near slams on the call button. You answer on the second ring, voice lacking the raspiness of a roused sleep. It makes him sigh with relief.
"Wrio?" you ask, surprised. "Are you okay? What's up?"
"I should be asking you that." Wriothesley sits heavily on the plush bed, flopping back against the pillows with all the grace of a man who just gave a two-hour performance.
As luxurious as the king-sized bed is, with its soft sheets and myriad of immaculately fluffed pillows, he can't help but yearn for the warm familiarity of your own bed and your well-loved blankets.
"Why're you still up, honey? Don't you have breakfast with your friends tomorrow?"
"...can't sleep," you murmur after a beat, voice so quiet. He hears sheets rustling, then silence again. You hesitate. "I... it might sound selfish but I miss you being here with me. It sucks that the bed feels so empty without you."
And oh, if he could, Wriothesley would crawl through the phone right this very second and wrap you in his arms— would crush you to his chest and hold you tight as he listens to your breath taper off into sleep. Would keep you against him, wrapped up in his love and adoration, until you practically have to beat him off of you with a stick.
But he can't and it's killing him.
"It's not selfish. I miss you too," he says, voice longing. "I want to go home to you so bad, sweetheart, you have no idea. Wish I could've packed you up in my bag and smuggled you here with me." He has to fight sleepy giggles at the thought.
"Speaking of— you better be prepared for a crapload of gifts when I get back. I've got a whole suitcase of stuff I thought you'd like."
You gasp, and even sounding a little crackly from the speakers, his heart does a flip. "A whole suitcase?! I wouldn't even know where to put all that!"
"We'll find space. 'm pretty sure there's some stuff we can jigsaw around." Wriothesley tries to keep the tiredness from his voice, tries to fight back the yawn. It's been so long since you've called, what with timezones and schedules getting in the way, and he wants to talk to you longer— ask how your day's been, what your plans are for the rest of the week, if there were any places you want to visit when he gets home. This call is much too short for all the things he wants to say, for all the hours he wants to spend listening to you talk.
But try as he might, you can tell he's close to knocking out without even having to lay an eye on him.
"You should sleep," you tell him, voice soothing him like a balm. "You're probably tired after your show. I saw a few videos, you know— you were so cool. I'm proud of you, Wrio."
He hums, basking in your praise. His eyelids are already growing heavy, the soft siren's song of sleep growing harder to resist. If he closes his eyes, maybe he can imagine that you're just down the hall, busy with something. You'll come in any second now, crawl into bed and slip into his arms, and everything would be right with the world.
"Thank you for... for calling. For checking up on me just because of a text." You giggle at that last bit, and (as it always seems to do) his heart flips. "I love you lots."
"Mm, no need to thank me. Just gimme lots of kisses when I get home." His tongue is growing heavier, sleep more inviting. But he manages to get one last thing out— "I love you lots, too."
Right before Wriothesley lets himself drop, you press a loud, exaggerated kiss to the receiver of your phone. He smiles.
That's how you both fall asleep: with both phones still on the line, even breaths and quiet snores comforting the other into a restful slumber.

You woke with a gasp.
Your chest heaved, lungs dragging in air like you had been drowning. Your body jolted upright before your mind caught up, heart hammering so hard it echoed in your ears.
Something was wrong.
Your skin was damp, a faint sheen of sweat clinging to your brow despite the cool air seeping in from the open window. Your breathing was uneven, shuddering. When you reached up to wipe your face, your fingers came away wet.
Tears.
You blinked rapidly, swiping them away with the heel of your hand, confusion tightening your throat. You weren't crying—at least, you didn't think you were. But the evidence was there, clinging to your lashes, trailing down your cheeks.
Why?
No nightmare lingered. No fragmented memory. No reason for this hollow weight pressing against yoribs—s, heavy and unshakable.
You swallowed hard, forcing it down. It had to be exhaustion.
Last night—Apollo—the endless music, the warmth of his presence, the way his voice wrapped around you like sunlight. Maybe it had drained you more than you realized.
That had to be it.
Letting out a slow breath, you swung your legs over the bed, pressing your feet to the cool floor to ground yourself. The lingering haze clung to your mind as you stretched, muscles heavier than usual—but not unpleasantly so.
Moving toward the water basin in the corner, you caught a glimpse of yourself in the polished bronze mirror.
You looked... different.
Not in any obvious way. But something about the morning light—it kissed your skin, lingered a little too long, like it knew you. Like it belonged to you.
You shook the thought away.
Instead, you focused on the familiar routine of washing up, letting the cold water shock your system awake. As you dressed, an unconscious hum slipped from your lips.
A hymn.
To Apollo.
Your fingers stilled on the fabric of your tunic, the sound of your own voice catching you off guard. You hadn't meant to hum it. Hadn't even thought about it. Yet it had come so naturally.
A warmth settled in your chest—gentle, knowing.
You ignored it, shaking the feeling off as you adjusted your clothes and made your way to the door. Whatever last night had meant, it was over. It was morning, and you had things to do.
Taking a steadying breath, you pulled open the door—
Only to nearly walk straight into Callias.
The two of you froze, eyes locking in mutual surprise.
Callias stood mid-motion, one hand raised as if about to knock, the other balancing a small wooden tray. A simple meal rested on top—freshly cut fruit, a bit of cheese, some olives. The kind of food you might have grabbed between chores or on the way to the queen's chambers.
You blinked. He blinked back.
A beat of silence stretched between you before Callias let out a quiet chuckle, a lopsided grin pulling at his lips.
"Well, hello, sleepyhead," he teased, tilting his head slightly. "What made you so tired?"
The question caught you off guard. Your mind scrambled for an answer—one that made sense because how could you possibly explain it? That you'd spent the night with Apollo himself, playing for him, singing for him, lost in melodies that dimmed the stars?
So instead, you settled for something vague.
"You wouldn't believe me," you muttered, shaking your head.
Callias raised an eyebrow, smirk deepening. "Wouldn't I?" he challenged, leaning against the doorframe, eyes glinting with lazy amusement. "You were asleep almost all day."
Your breath caught.
"...What?"
Callias laughed, clearly amused by your reaction. "Yeah, it's almost noon," he said casually, shifting the tray so he could gesture toward the hallway.
The words hit like a stone sinking in water, dragging down into something deep and unsteady.
Noon?
You had gone to sleep just before dawn—only a few hours ago. At least, that's what you thought. You remembered the sky still dark when you finally lay down, Apollo's presence still lingering as you drifted off.
And now... it was noon?
You must have frozen completely because Callias chuckled again, though this time, curiosity edged into his amusement.
"Yeah, you were out," he continued. "But no worries. Prince Telemachus told the king and queen at breakfast that you'd be taking the morning off, so no one's disturbed you."
Telemachus?
Your thoughts whirled, struggling to keep up. You hadn't asked for the morning off. But... he had done it for you? Had gone out of his way to make sure no one expected anything from you after last night?
Something warm and strange settled in your chest, but it was quickly buried beneath the lingering shock.
"Are you okay?" Callias asked, his teasing tone dipping into something softer.
You forced a nod, though your thoughts still spun. "Yeah... just—didn't realize how tired I was."
Not a lie. Not entirely.
Callias studied you for a beat, sharp eyes scanning like he was debating whether to pry. But then, just as quickly, his usual carefree grin returned as he held out the tray. "Well, here, eat something. You probably need it after hibernating."
You took the tray with a small nod of thanks, though your mind was still sluggish, trying to catch up. So much had happened—Apollo, Cleo, your parents, everything—and yet, in reality, it had all been just one day.
The realization made your head spin.
Your body still carried the exhaustion of the Underworld, the weight of divine revelation pressing into your bones. Time had been strange since you entered the Underworld, slipping through your fingers like sand. But even then, you had never slept for so long.
"Anyway, I actually came to tell you about Venus tonight." Callias' grin widened, eyes gleaming with excitement.
You blinked, thrown by the shift. "Venus?"
"Yeah," he nodded, his enthusiasm infectious. "It'll be at its brightest tonight. The whole town is talking about it. Perfectly clear skies, the kind of thing you have to see." Your fingers tightened slightly around the tray as something twisted deep in your chest—not unpleasant, but unexpected.
Venus.
A memory surfaced unbidden, breaking through the fog.
"Tomorrow night, Venus will be at its brightest," Telemachus had said, voice quieter than usual. "It lights up the sky like a beacon. I... was thinking—if you'd like, you could... join me?"
The way he had looked at you then—hopeful, hesitant—made your heart clench.
But before you could answer, Andreia had appeared.
Her presence had shattered the moment, her voice dripping with familiarity as she touched Telemachus' arm, claiming his attention like it was hers to take. He had turned to her, torn between duty and whatever had just passed between you.
And just like that, the offer had been swept away.
You had almost forgotten. Or maybe you had forced yourself to.
Callias' voice pulled you back to the present before you could spiral too deep.
"I was thinking we could go together," he said, his eagerness cutting through the weight pressing in your chest. "It's supposed to be stunning, and I don't want to go alone."
You hesitated, emotions warring inside you.
A part of you—a small, ugly part—wanted to refuse. To lock yourself away in your room and ignore the ache curling inside your chest. To pretend none of this mattered.
But another part of you—the part that refused to let Andreia's callousness dictate your choices—wanted to go.
What did it matter if Telemachus was watching Venus with Andreia?
What did it really matter?
You looked up at Callias, his expectant expression so open, so easy. Unlike Telemachus, who carried the weight of a kingdom on his shoulders, Callias was light. No burdens, no expectations. Just here, grinning at you like nothing was complicated at all.
And maybe, for tonight, you needed that.
You took a breath, shoving the ache of Telemachus and Andreia down. Letting it settle beneath the surface.
"Alright," you said, forcing a small smile. "I'll go."
Callias' grin widened, his whole face lighting up. "Perfect! I'll meet you in the square after sunset."
You nodded, watching as he stepped back with an easy wave before disappearing down the corridor, leaving you alone with your thoughts.
The tray in your hands felt heavier than before.
Exhaling slowly, you closed the door behind you and turned back into your room.
For the first time in what felt like days, you had plans. Not with Telemachus. Not with duty pressing against your back.
But with someone who simply wanted to enjoy the stars.
And maybe, just maybe, that was exactly what you needed.

As the day stretched on, you noticed something felt off.
It wasn't something you could name—not fully.
It started the moment you woke, lingering at the edges of your mind like the remnants of a dream you couldn't quite grasp. The air felt heavier, the familiar scents of the palace—sea salt, aged stone, fresh linens—were sharper, more defined, as if you were experiencing them for the first time.
At first, you brushed it off—exhaustion, the weight of yesterday, your mind still catching up to the reality that had shifted beneath your feet.
But as the hours passed, the feeling didn't fade.
If anything, it grew stronger.
Every sound, every color, every sensation felt amplified, as if you had been seeing the world through a veil this entire time, and now, without warning, it had been ripped away.
Something had changed.
You had changed.
But you couldn't explain how.
And you weren't sure if you were ready to.
The sky had darkened by the time you made your way down to the courtyard, the last streaks of twilight fading into the deep indigo of night. Stars pricked through the heavens like scattered embers, and in the east, Venus shone the brightest—a beacon against the endless dark.
You exhaled, wrapping your shawl tighter around your shoulders.
Tonight was simple. Meet Callias. Watch Venus. Let the night be just a night.
This was fine. You were fine.
You weren't thinking about the way Apollo had looked at you like you were his to cherish, weren't thinking about the way Telemachus had asked you to see Venus with him, only for Andreia to steal that moment away.
No. You weren't thinking about any of that.
Tonight was different.
Tonight, you had Callias.
And yet, as you approached the courtyard, your steps slowed.
Something stirred in the distance.
Not Callias—not yet.
Beyond the stone archway, at the entrance to the palace grounds, a small caravan was being prepared.
Horses shifted under the weight of their bridles, their breath visible in the cool night air. Royal attendants moved with practiced efficiency, adjusting saddles, tightening straps, securing supplies. Lanterns flickered, casting long, wavering shadows against the stone walls.
You didn't have to wonder who it was for.
Then, you saw them.
Telemachus and Andreia stood just beyond the main path, illuminated by the soft golden glow of the torches.
Your breath hitched—just for a moment.
She stood close to Telemachus. Too close.
Her fingers barely grazed his arm, but the touch lingered. She was speaking, head tilted just so, lips curved in an easy, confident smile. The way she looked at him—like she knew she was the center of his attention, like she expected it—made your stomach churn.
But it was Telemachus' expression that truly caught you.
He wasn't smiling.
His posture was stiff, hands clasped tightly in front of him. He nodded as she spoke, but his gaze flickered—to the ground, to the attendants, to the caravan. Anywhere but her.
Anywhere but here.
It was the same look he wore when he was enduring something he didn't want but knew he couldn't refuse.
You should have looked away.
You should have kept walking, let the night unfold as it was meant to—without letting yourself drown in the weight of something you couldn't change.
But you didn't.
Something about them—the almost-blue of her dress, the tension in his shoulders, the way the torches illuminated them like a portrait painted in gold—held you there.
This was what could have been yours.
But it wasn't.
Not anymore.
A cool breeze brushed past, making you pull your shawl tighter, and for the briefest moment, you let yourself feel it.
The ache.
The loss.
The quiet, unbearable knowing that whatever had existed between you and Telemachus—that unspoken, fragile thing—was now on the verge of shambles.
And then—
"___!"
The voice snapped you out of your thoughts, light and familiar.
You turned, blinking quickly as Callias strode into view, his usual easy grin in place. He looked effortlessly put together, as always—his brown curls tousled from the wind, a thin gold chain catching the torchlight at his throat.
Behind you, the caravan began to move—horses led forward, wheels creaking against the stone path as the procession disappeared into the night.
Telemachus and Andreia turned as well, their figures half-illuminated in the shifting glow.
And for just a second—a single, fleeting second—Telemachus' gaze found yours.
Your breath caught.
Something flickered across his face—something unreadable, something buried too deep to name.
But then, just as quickly, he looked away, shifting his attention back to Andreia as she spoke.
And that was that.
Callias came to a stop beside you, watching the caravan fade into the dark before turning back to you with an amused tilt of his head.
"You were staring," he noted, teasing but light. "Do I even need to ask why?"
You swallowed, forcing a small, dismissive smile. "Not at all."
He studied you for a moment, his usual playfulness tempered by something quieter, more knowing. But whatever he wanted to say, he held back. Instead, he threw an arm over your shoulders, tugging you lightly toward the garden terraces.
"Good thing I'm here to rescue you from your thoughts," he said cheerfully. "Come on, we have stars to see. And I, for one, refuse to let you mope under a sky this clear."
You let out a soft laugh, shaking your head, and fell into step beside him.
The night stretched before you, open and endless, the sky above glittering with stars.
.☆. .✩. .☆.
By the time you and Callias reached the stargazing spot, both of you were panting slightly, the climb steeper than expected. The winding paths of Ithaca weren't anything new to you, but under the cover of night—with the occasional loose stone threatening to send you tumbling—it felt far more treacherous than it should have.
Callias let out a dramatic huff beside you, swiping his curls away from his forehead with the back of his hand. "You know," he started, breath coming in short bursts, "for an island, Ithaca sure has an ungodly amount of hills."
You let out a breathless laugh. "One would think being surrounded by the sea would make it flatter," you teased, shaking your head.
"Exactly!" Callias threw his hands up. "Mountains? Fine. Valleys? Sure. But this?" He gestured vaguely at the incline you'd just conquered, his frustration exaggerated enough to make you laugh again.
The cool night air brushed against your skin, and as you finally lifted your gaze, the sight before you made the ache in your legs seem like a small price to pay.
The stargazing area had been arranged with far more preparation than you'd expected. Ithaca, despite its deep-rooted love for land and sky, didn't typically host large stargazing gatherings. Most preferred quiet moments, watching from their own homes, sharing the night with close friends or family.
But this—this was different.
The clearing had been carefully prepared, no doubt orchestrated by Andreia herself. Blankets covered the grass while small wooden trays sat between each seating arrangement, filled with fresh figs, olives, and honeyed almonds.
Lanterns lined the outskirts, casting a warm, flickering glow—just enough to move around without overpowering the brilliance of the stars.
Already, a handful of servants from both Bronte and Ithaca had settled in, chatting in hushed voices, adjusting their seats. Others lingered by the edges, watching as the last of the caravan settled into place.
It was beautiful, you had to admit, even if it left a strange weight in your chest.
Your gaze instinctively drifted skyward, drawn by habit and expectation. But instead of the vast, glittering expanse of stars you had imagined, drifting clouds veiled the heavens. The familiar constellations flickered faintly behind them, their shapes blurred and broken, swallowed and revealed in slow-moving patterns.
It wasn't unusual for clouds to pass through, but it felt almost... untimely. As though the heavens had drawn a curtain over something you were meant to see.
Your lips parted slightly, brows knitting as you scanned the sky, searching—searching for the one light you had been waiting for.
Venus should have been visible by now.
Yet, for a long, stretching moment, it was nowhere to be found.
A pang of disappointment nudged at your ribs, though you weren't sure why. It was just a planet, just another celestial body tracing its path through the heavens. And yet...
"Don't tell we crawled up this hill for a cloudy sky," Callias groaned beside you, following your gaze with a half-hearted glare at the heavens. He crossed his arms, tapping his fingers against his sleeve. "If Venus is hiding after all that effort, I'm taking it as a personal betrayal."
You let out a small, breathy laugh, though your fingers unconsciously tightened at your sides.
"Just wait," you murmured, more to yourself than to him. "It'll show."
Callias barely gave you a moment before grabbing your wrist, tugging you toward a group already seated near the edge of the gathering. "C'mon," he grinned, excitement buzzing in his tone. "There are a few people I want you to meet."
You let him lead you, weaving through clusters of people, careful not to step too close to the edge of the hill.
Your nerves kicked in when you realized where he was taking you—to a Brontean group, already settled comfortably in a small circle.
Three figures—two women and one man—looked up as Callias approached, their faces illuminated by the soft lantern glow.
The first woman, a foreign-looking girl with deep brown skin framed by a golden-wrapped headscarf, was the first to notice you. Her dark eyes flickered with curiosity, lips twitching in amusement as she nudged the girl beside her.
The second woman—lighter in complexion, black curls tumbling over her shoulders, an air of quiet confidence around her—lifted her gaze from a bowl of figs, sharp blue eyes assessing you quickly.
The man, broad-shouldered with a trimmed beard and golden rings adorning his fingers, smirked as Callias approached.
"If it isn't Ithaca's favorite socialite," he teased, shifting slightly to make room.
Callias rolled his eyes but grinned, tugging you closer. "Everyone, this is ____, the newest addition to my very selective circle of friends."
The woman with the golden scarf hummed, tilting her head. "So this is the one Callias won't shut up about," she mused. "Well, aren't you a pretty lamb ready for slaughter?"
You blinked, caught off guard, while Callias groaned dramatically, shooting her an unimpressed look.
"Asta, that's not how we greet people."
The woman—Asta—shrugged, entirely unbothered. "I think it is."
The dark-haired woman smirked, leaning forward. "You have been talking about her a lot, Cal," she admitted, popping a fig into her mouth.
Callias nudged her foot. "I do have other things to talk about, you know."
"Sure," the man chuckled. "Like wine. And how much you hate horses."
Callias narrowed his eyes. "You're all terrible. Scooch over, we're sitting."
With a dramatic sigh, Asta made room, and Callias pulled you down beside him, flashing you a quick wink before turning back to the group.
The dark-haired woman studied you for a moment before offering a smooth smile. "I'm Lysandra," she introduced herself. "Lady Andreia's personal attendant."
Your breath hitched slightly, but you nodded, keeping your expression neutral.
Lysandra seemed to catch your hesitation because she leaned in slightly, lowering her voice. "Don't worry," she murmured, amusement flickering in her gaze. "I'm not here to test your loyalty or anything. Honestly, I'm just here for the stars and good company."
You offered a small smile, though your stomach still twisted uncomfortably.
Beside her, the man stretched, letting out a small sigh as he adjusted the rings on his fingers.
"And I'm Kieran," he said. "Bronte's Treasury Overseer and resident merchant-troublemaker. Whatever you need, I can find it—for a price, of course." His grin was easygoing, but his eyes were sharp, something calculated beneath the charm.
"And I," Asta cut in, her accent unfamiliar, "am just Asta. No fancy titles, no noble houses. Just a wandering soul who somehow ended up in Bronte."
You nodded, feeling slightly overwhelmed by the sheer presence of them all.
Callias, sensing your nerves, nudged you lightly.
"Relax," he whispered. "They don't bite." He paused, side-eyeing Asta, who merely raised an eyebrow. "Most of them don't."
That pulled a small, reluctant laugh from you, easing some of the tension in your chest.
Kieran, always one to seize an opportunity, leaned back on his hands with a grin. "So, Callias," he drawled, stretching his legs out in front of him. "What exactly have you been up to? It feels like we haven't seen you in ages."
Callias scoffed, waving him off. "You literally saw me earlier today. At lunch. And at dinner."
Asta snorted, shaking her head. "You mean we saw you grab a bite before immediately disappearing."
Lysandra smirked, adding in smoothly. "And even when you do stay, you can't stop talking about your new bestie." She glanced at you teasingly, amusement glimmering in her green eyes. "It's honestly kind of cute."
You blinked, caught between mild shock and embarrassment. Callias? Talking about you?
Callias groaned loudly, tossing his head back in dramatic exasperation. "Oh, for the love of the gods—" He shot Lysandra a playfully betrayed look. "You're all just mad I finally found someone who appreciates my charm."
Asta smirked. "Or someone who hasn't yet figured out how exhausting you are."
Laughter rippled through the group, warm and easy, and despite the lingering tension in your chest, you couldn't help but smile.
Callias placed a hand over his heart, dramatically wounded. "If this is how you're gonna treat me, then I'm leaving."
"No, you're not," Kieran said, rolling his eyes. "You wouldn't dare leave your bestie behind."
Callias grumbled something under his breath, but his grin gave him away. He leaned back onto his elbows, shaking his head in mock defeat.
Asta, still watching you with sharp curiosity, tilted her head. "So, ____," she said, smoothly bringing you into the conversation. "What's it like working under Ithaca's rule?"
Kieran perked up beside her, nudging Lysandra with his elbow. "Yeah! How's the pay? I might switch over."
Lysandra swatted his arm without looking. "You wouldn't last a week in Ithaca."
You smiled, feeling a little more at ease. "It's... not bad," you admitted, adjusting the fabric of your tunic as you as you considered your answer. "The royal family is warmer than most would expect."
Asta arched a brow, intrigued. "Warmer, huh?"
You nodded. "It wasn't always like this," you said, your voice softening in thought. "Before King Odysseus returned, things were... tense. The palace felt like it was holding its breath. The queen was strong, but the suitors brought uncertainty. It was hard to feel secure."
Your fingers traced absent patterns into your sleeve. "But ever since the king came home, things have been different. There's a new kind of peace in Ithaca. He's fair but firm. He sees people, not just titles."
Kieran hummed, considering. "Not bad," he mused. "Maybe I should switch over."
Lysandra groaned and flicked an olive at him. He barely dodged it. "Oh, shut up."
Then, she turned her gaze toward you, curiosity glinting in her eyes. "So, ____, what's he really like?"
You blinked, caught off guard. "Who?"
"The great King Odysseus, of course," she clarified. "Word of his return spread all the way to Bronte. Everyone was talking about it—the king who defeated death itself to come home."
Asta hummed in agreement. "It's a big reason why we're here, actually. Along with the whole Prince Andros situation, of course."
At the mention of Andros, a shadow flickered across Kieran's face before he scoffed.
"The 'Andros situation'—what a polite fucking way to put it," he muttered, voice edged with sarcasm. He stretched his legs out, leaning back on his hands. "More like the clean-up of a fool. Serves him right."
Asta shot him a warning look. "Careful," she said, voice even but pointed. "Someone might overhear and snitch to the princess."
Kieran rolled his eyes. "Oh, please. We're not in Bronte, Asta. What's she gonna do? Have me executed in Ithaca?"
Asta arched a brow, adjusting her seat. "No. But the way she's moving... she might find a way eventually."
Kieran's smirk faded into a scowl. He exhaled sharply through his nose, shaking his head. "Yeah. What a fast one, the princess is," he muttered, irritation laced through his voice.
Then, his sharp gaze flicked to you.
"Speaking of which," he said, tilting his head. "What have you heard on your end?"
You blinked. "Pardon?"
Kieran leaned forward slightly, his eyes glinting with intrigue. "C'mon. We're not gonna snitch. I just mean, what rumors have you heard? About Princess Andreia? About your prince?" he urged, tilting his head toward the clearing, subtly motioning with his hand.
Your chest tightened at the phrasing—your prince—before following his gesture, your gaze landing on the opposite side of the clearing, where the best seats for stargazing had been arranged.
Andreia sat in a broad wooden chair—one brought just for her—an ornate cushion beneath her to keep her comfortable on the rocky ground. She was speaking to Telemachus, lips curved into an easy, knowing smile. Her hands moved lightly as she spoke, graceful, practiced, but her expression betrayed little true emotion.
Telemachus, however, wasn't looking at her.
His face remained calm, polite. But his eyes were already fixed skyward, waiting for the clouds to part and reveal Venus. His fingers tapped absently against his knee, his mind clearly elsewhere.
You weren't sure why you kept watching him. Maybe it was the way his expression barely changed, the way his body sat there—composed, proper—while his hands betrayed his thoughts. The rhythmic tapping against his knee, the quiet inhale through his nose every few moments, the way his shoulders never fully relaxed despite Andreia's presence.
As if a memory had been scraped to the surface, Callias' words returned with startling clarity.
"One of Andreia's personal attendants let something slip... Apparently, she's been in talks to form political alliances between Bronte and Ithaca."
Your stomach tightened.
How long had it been since he told you that? A week? A day? Less? Everything that had happened—the Underworld, Apollo, your own unraveling—had swallowed your focus so completely that you had forgotten.
Just how much had she accomplished in that time?
Had she already planted her roots deeper into Ithaca's court? Had she secured her place by his side while you were tangled in your own problems, failing to notice?
Your fingers curled slightly against the fabric of your tunic.
What has she gained while I wasn't paying attention?
The thought made your skin crawl.
Not because of duty. Not because of political maneuvering—those had always existed, always shaped the lives of the powerful.
No, what unsettled you was Andreia herself.
"...the way she's moving... she might find a way eventually."
Asta's words echoed fresh in your mind, sharp and foreboding.
And the truth was, she was right.
Andreia wasn't just here to bask in Ithaca's hospitality. She wasn't lingering at Telemachus' side out of passing interest.
She was moving.
Every smile, every carefully placed word, every touch Telemachus never stopped—she was shifting the board, playing the game.
Your lips pressed into a thin line as your gaze lingered on her.
The dress she wore tonight was a lighter seafoam blue, not green—a color closer to Ithaca's than Bronte's. A subtle change, but deliberate. A symbol of someone adjusting, assimilating. She was embedding herself within Ithaca's court, reshaping her image to make it easier for others to see her as belonging here.
Beside its prince.
Your eyes flicked back to him.
His hands had gone still, resting idly against his knee. His face was polite, but distant.
Waiting for the clouds to move.
Not looking at her.
Your grip loosened slightly.
For all of Andreia's efforts, for all of her presence—
Telemachus was not looking at her.
He was looking up.
And for just a moment, you let yourself believe—maybe Asta was wrong.
Maybe, no matter how much Andreia tried to weave herself into his world, she would never truly have him.
You opened your mouth, ready to answer Kieran—to say something, maybe that you weren't sure, that you hadn't heard anything worth repeating.
But before you could get a word out—
A half-eaten fig flew across the blanket and smacked Kieran in the shoulder.
"Gods, do you lot even know how to ask a normal question?" Callias huffed, stretching out lazily as if he hadn't just launched fruit at someone. "What ever happened to 'Hey, ____! What'' your favorite color?' Or 'Wow, that's a nice shawl, where'd you get it?' You know—questions that don't make people think they're about to be interrogated."
Kieran let out an exaggerated sigh, dramatically rubbing his shoulder as if the fig had done any real damage. "Callias, you are insufferable."
"Selfish,"Lysandra agreed, shaking her head in mock disappointment.
"So selfish," Asta echoed, plucking the remains of the fig from where it had rolled onto the blanket and tossing it at Callias in retaliation. He dodged effortlessly, flashing them a smug grin.
"You're all just mad that I have social skills," Callias shot back, wagging a finger at them.
"You mean the skills of an annoying little brother," Lysandra muttered.
Kieran rolled his eyes and turned back to you. "This is the first Ithacan servant we've actually had a chance to talk to since being here—ever—and he want us to waste time with trivial nonsense?" He shot Callias a pointed look before glancing back at you. "I, for one, think we should make good use of the opportunity."
That... surprised you.
"You've... never spoken to any of the other servants?" you asked, hesitantly. "Is it... forbidden?"
The moment the words left your lips, the energy around the group shifted. A brief, noticeable silence settled, the once-playful air turning heavier, more serious.
Asta was the first to break it. "Not explicitly," she admitted, rolling a small olive between her fingers. "But it's an unwritten rule for Brontes not to be too communicative with outsiders."
Lysandra nodded, leaning back on her hands. "It's about presenting an image—one of strength, unity. The less our servants talk, the more disciplined and devoted our homeland appears to others. It's..." She hesitated, then settled on, "A way to maintain control, I suppose."
Kieran, however, scoffed loudly, completely unimpressed. "It's bullshit is what it is. The whole thing's designed to make us miserable. Keeps us longing for home, thinking about how much better we had it before leaving." His jaw tensed slightly, and for the first time since meeting him, there was no teasing in his voice—just frustration.
Asta arched a brow, a slow smirk tugging at her lips. "You've been awfully bold lately, Kieran." She propped her chin on her hand, eyes gleaming with amusement. "What happened to the perfect, quiet little merchant's son from Bronte?"
Kieran shot her an unimpressed glare. "He got a taste of freedom—of Ithaca—and now he's got a spine," he retorted dryly. Then, as if flipping a switch, his expression brightened.
"Oh! Tadros is passing out wine!"
He practically jolted upright, pointing toward the far end of the clearing before turning to Lysandra and tugging her arm. "Come on! Let's go before all the good stuff's gone!"
Lysandra rolled her eyes, though a faint smile played at her lips. "Fine, you child," she muttered, already getting to her feet.
Asta followed suit, stretching her arms above her head. "I'll help carry enough back for everyone," she said before shooting a smirk at Kieran. "Not that you'd be any help with that."
"You wound me," Kieran gasped, clutching his chest dramatically before grinning and leading the way toward the group of Bronte servants gathered around the wine.
As they walked off, you exhaled slowly, the weight of the conversation still lingering. The laughter and chatter faded into the background, leaving only the quiet hum of the night and the distant murmur of the gathering around the wine.
You turned toward Callias, curiosity—and unease—pressing against your chest too strongly to ignore.
"Is it really true?" you asked, voice quieter now that it was just the two of you. "That Bronte's servants aren't allowed to speak to Ithacans?"
Callias glanced at you, his expression unreadable for a moment before letting out a soft chuckle, shaking his head.
"Yeah, it's true," he admitted. "At least, that's how it's supposed to be."
Leaning back on his hands, he tilted his head toward the sky, his face thoughtful. "But I've never been one to stick to all the rules—especially not when the princess herself is out here making 'alliances.'" His lips curled into a knowing smirk, but there was something else behind it. Something tired.
His words made your stomach twist. You hesitated before asking carefully, "Have you... gotten into trouble because of... me?"
The smirk faltered—just for a second. It was quick, barely noticeable, but you caught it before he forced an easy grin back into place.
He shrugged, brushing invisible dust from his tunic as if the question meant nothing. "Of course not," he said lightly. "Like Kieran said, what could she do to us here? This isn't Bronte."
For some reason, you didn't believe him.
But instead of pressing the issue, you simply nodded in quiet acceptance. Maybe it was better not to know.
A flicker of movement caught your attention from the corner of your eye. A Bronte servant approached, their steps quick but measured, head slightly bowed as they reached Callias.
"The princess has requested your presence," they said in a hushed voice. "She wants you near her... and to play the panpipes."
A brief, loaded silence followed.
Callias didn't move at first, absorbing the words. Then, without hesitation, he gave a short nod. "Of course," he said, voice neutral. The servant inclined their head and disappeared back into the gathering like a shadow.
Once they were gone, Callias let out a long sigh, running a hand through his hair. "Well. That's that," he muttered, exhaling sharply before turning back to you. "Sorry, ____."
"You don't have to apologize, Callias," you assured him, offering a small smile. "She would've noticed you were here sooner or later anyway."
His gaze lingered on you for a moment, as if debating whether to say something more. Then, instead of dwelling on it, he grinned—though it didn't quite reach his eyes.
"You're right," he said. "Still—kind of a shame. I was having fun."
You chuckled softly. "Me too."
Callias stood, stretching his arms above his head before rolling out his shoulders. "Tell you what," he said, glancing down at you with a playful tilt of his head. "Tomorrow, let's hang out. No princess, no obligations—just a normal, rule-breaking Bronte servant and his new bestie."
The casual way he said it made you smile. "Alright," you agreed, nudging his foot with yours. "Tomorrow, then."
His grin widened before he took a step back. "Great. I'll come find you."
With that, he turned, heading toward the main gathering—toward Andreia, who was waiting.
You watched him go, the easy energy he always carried feeling just a little heavier tonight. As he disappeared into the crowd, you let out a small breath, shaking off the weight of it all.
Tomorrow.
That was something to look forward to.
But tonight wasn't over just yet.
Before you could dwell too much on Callias' departure, the sound of approaching footsteps pulled you back to the present.
Kieran, Lysandra, and Asta returned, carrying a few clay cups of wine between them. Kieran was the first to plop down beside you, exhaling like he'd just completed some impossible task. Lysandra and Asta followed, setting down a small flask with the remaining wine.
Asta's sharp eyes swept over the circle, immediately picking up on the absence.
"Where's Callias?" she asked, brow furrowing.
You hesitated, then sighed. "Princess Andreia sent for him."
That was all it took for the mood to drop.
Asta's mouth tightened into a thin line. Kieran scoffed, shaking his head as he handed you a cup of wine, and Lysandra sighed heavily, settling in beside Asta.
Kieran took a swig from his cup, grumbling, "Figures. The four of us finally get some time together, and she takes him. As always." He rubbed a hand down his face, exasperated.
Asta hummed in agreement. "It's no different than back home," she said, swirling her wine before taking a small sip. She turned to Lysandra. "Does she ever talk about why she loves picking on Callias so much?"
Lysandra frowned, clearly considering the question before shaking her head. "I'm not sure," she admitted. "Since we've come to Ithaca, I haven't been as close to her. It's not like before."
Kieran clicked his tongue. "Bet she caught on," he muttered, stretching his legs out in front of him. "Or another servant ratted them out. You know how Bronte royals are when they travel. They love pitting their servants against each other."
His words struck something in you, but before you could dwell on it, his gaze flickered to you. His expression softened slightly, the usual sharpness easing.
"Hey," he said, nudging your arm with his elbow. "I just wanna say—if we made you uncomfortable earlier, I'm sorry. We can be... a bit much."
You blinked, then quickly shook your head. "No, it's alright. I wasn't uncomfortable," you reassured, offering a small smile. "It was nice... getting to talk to others."
Lysandra tilted her head, watching you for a moment before speaking.
"I know you were mostly here for Callias," she said gently. "And you might not be comfortable around the rest of us just yet—but we did enjoy getting to know you." She paused, then smiled. "Hopefully, we'll get to do it again."
Something about the sincerity in her voice made your chest warm slightly. You nodded, gratitude settling in your bones. "I'd like that," you admitted.
After that, you excused yourself, stretching as you stood. The others bid you a casual farewell, already shifting their conversation elsewhere.
You wandered a short distance away, their chatter fading into the background as you searched for a quieter spot. Then, finally, you found it.
A ledge.
It wasn't far from where they sat, but it felt separate enough to offer some peace. The land sloped downward slightly before opening to a ledge overlooking the sea. You made your way toward it, the faint salt of the ocean thick in the cool night air.
Settling down, you placed your cup beside you, the clay cool against the stone.
Below, the waves crashed against the cliffs, the water an endless abyss of dark blue and silver, illuminated only by the moonlight breaking through scattered clouds. The distant roar of the sea filled the silence, steady and unrelenting, constant and unfazed by mortal worries.
Above, the sky stretched wide, stars blinking in and out as the clouds drifted lazily. Orion and Perseus had already emerged, their familiar figures standing boldly in the heavens.
But Venus—
Venus was still hidden.
You sighed softly, watching as the clouds shifted, waiting.
The wind carried the scent of salt and damp earth, the waves below crashing rhythmically against the cliffs. Above, the thinning clouds slowly unveiled the vast cosmos, stars flickering into view one by one. The night stretched endless—vast—as if you were floating somewhere between the sky and the sea, caught in a strange, quiet stillness.
You traced the familiar constellations absently, mind drifting, thoughts slipping into a hazy blur—until a voice cut through the quiet.
"Now, now. Sitting all alone, looking all broody? You're gonna make me think you're lonely."
You barely smothered the startled yelp that nearly escaped, your hand flying to cover your mouth. Heart hammering, you turned sharply to your left, only to find—
Hermes.
The god lounged beside you as if he'd been there the whole time, one knee propped up, chin resting lazily against his palm. His golden eyes gleamed with mischief, lips curled into a lopsided grin that spelled nothing but trouble.
"Gods," you whispered breathlessly, pressing a hand to your chest in a feeble attempt to slow your racing heart.
Hermes chuckled, straightening slightly. "Startled you?"
You shot him a look, still trying to calm your nerves. "Just a little," you muttered, exhaling through your nose.
"Good." He winked, stretching his arms behind his head. "I'd hate to think I'm losing my touch."
You shook your head, resisting the urge to roll your eyes. But before you could respond, Hermes tilted his head, his grin turning sly.
"Speaking of trouble..." he drawled, voice dipping into something playfully accusatory. "Aren't you a little troublemaker? What happened to 'Don't get into trouble without me'? I leave you alone for one afternoon, and you almost get me singed by Hades."
You winced at the reminder, guilt pooling in your stomach. "Ah..." You scratched at your cheek, looking away. "Sorry about that. I—I really didn't mean to—"
Hermes let out a bark of laughter, waving off your apology with an easy flick of his wrist. "No worries. Lucky for you, Persephone made sure you wouldn't get any punishments. Even Hades liked you a little—but don't expect him to admit it."
Your eyebrows lifted. "Hades?"
"Mhm." Hermes leaned in slightly, eyes gleaming with interest. "I gotta say, I'm impressed. How did you do it? I was all set to be the one escorting your soul when your time came, and yet, here you are. Breathing. Living." He made a dramatic gesture with his hands. "Existing."
You cleared your throat, turning your gaze back out to sea as you scratched your chin, recalling the moment. "I, uh... just repeated the phrase you whispered to me. The one about the threshold."
Hermes blinked. Once. Twice.
"That's it?"
You nodded.
He stared for another beat before leaning back with an amused hum, tapping a finger against his chin.
"Huh."
Silence stretched between you, the waves below filling the space with their rhythmic crash. You weren't sure if Hermes was still mulling over your words or simply enjoying the way you squirmed under his unreadable gaze.
Then, his lips curled into a smirk, golden eyes glinting with mischief.
"Besides that, a little birdie told me you've learned of your favor to my insufferable big brother." He gave a dramatic sigh, running a hand through his curls as if the thought physically pained him. "Congratulations, little musician. You're officially tied to one of the most dramatic gods on Olympus. And that's saying something."
You couldn't help the small smile tugging at your lips. "Thank you," you murmured, though something about his words stirred an uncomfortable thought in the back of your mind.
Favor of a god.
Cleo's voice slithered through your memories like a whisper in the dark.
"You have everything, ____. The favor of a prince, the favor of a god. Do you even realize how selfish you are?"
Your stomach twisted. The cold breeze suddenly felt sharper against your skin. You fidgeted, clearing your throat to steady your voice.
"Hermes," you started hesitantly, shifting to fully face him. "Could you... help me with something?"
His brows lifted slightly, amusement softening into curiosity. "Of course. I am very helpful, you know."
You hesitated, heart pounding. The words felt heavy in your throat, but after everything—Cleo, the Underworld, Telemachus—you needed an answer. Even if you weren't sure you'd like it.
Taking a slow breath, you forced the words out.
"Was I... supposed to die?"
Hermes froze.
It was brief—a flicker, a second of unnatural stillness—but you caught it. His smirk faltered, his body tensed ever so slightly before he quickly masked it with a scoff.
"Where on earth did you get that idea?" he asked, tilting his head with an easy grin that didn't quite reach his eyes.
You shifted under his gaze, suddenly embarrassed. "I—I don't know," you admitted, gripping the fabric of your clothes. "It's just... things have been strange lately. And Cleo—" You swallowed hard. "She said it. That it was supposed to be me down there. And when I asked Polites, he just told me to ask you."
But you weren't done. The thoughts had already started unraveling, spilling from your lips before you could stop them.
"And then Telemachus—he said favors never end well. That they come with consequences. And what if this is mine? What if—" Your breath hitched, words tumbling out too fast, chest tightening with something raw and unspoken. "What if I was supposed to die, and Apollo changed it? What if I was never meant to be here at all?"
Your voice cracked, and you clenched your jaw, willing yourself to calm down. But the fear had already crept in, clawing up your spine, coiling in your stomach. It had been lurking in the background all day, shadowing every thought, every breath. And now, as you finally voiced it, the weight of it nearly crushed you.
Your heart pounded against your ribs, the cold air too thin, too sharp. You curled in slightly, gripping your arms to ground yourself as a quiet tremble ran through your limbs.
Then, warm fingers pressed gently against the top of your head.
A strange sensation rushed over you—soft, golden warmth eased the tightness in your chest, smoothing over the edges of your nerves. Your shoulders relaxed before you could stop them, the tension draining from your body like water slipping through your fingers.
You blinked up at him, wide-eyed.
Hermes huffed, a fond smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he ruffled your hair like you were a child fretting over nothing. "There we go," he murmured. "No need for all that panic, little musician."
You exhaled shakily, realizing just how fast your heart had been racing. The warmth from his touch settled deep in your chest, lingering like sunlight after a storm.
Hermes watched you for a moment, then clicked his tongue, shaking his head with a smirk. "Look at you. All teary-eyed." He leaned in, swiping away a stray tear with his thumb before you'd even noticed it was there.
The touch was quick, fleeting—but it sent a shiver through you nonetheless.
"Unfortunately," he continued, tone lighter now, "that particular question is a little outside my jurisdiction."
You frowned. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, my dear little mortal," he said, tapping your nose playfully, "whether or not you were meant to die is Apollo's business, not mine."
Your heart sank. "So you don't know?"
"Oh, I probably do," he teased, grinning when you huffed. "But that's a family secret, you see. Divine intervention and all that."
You opened your mouth to protest, but he raised a finger, cutting you off.
"What I can promise you, though," he said, voice dipping into something softer, more certain, "is that you don't have to worry about dying anytime soon."
Your breath caught at the quiet sincerity in his words.
He tilted his head, studying you for a moment before his smirk returned, gentler this time. "I won't allow it."
His voice was light, teasing as always, but something in the way he said it—the certainty, the quiet weight—made your chest tighten.
A promise.
A reassurance.
And for the first time in a long while, you let yourself believe it.
The warmth of Hermes' words settled deep in your chest, lingering like the last traces of sunlight on your skin. It was strange—comforting, even—how easily he could dispel your fears with a smirk and a well-placed touch. You hadn't realized just how much you needed to hear it, how much you had been carrying, until now. Your fingers flexed slightly against your lap, testing the weight of your own relief.
Hermes, for his part, looked entirely at ease. His golden eyes glinted with satisfaction as he rocked back slightly, hands slipping into the folds of his cloak. His usual mischievous grin played at his lips—but then, something shifted.
His gaze flickered past your shoulder, his smirk softening into something more knowing—resigned, almost.
"Well," he exhaled through his nose, "looks like our little heart-to-heart is about to be cut short."
You frowned. "What do you—"
"You'll see," he interrupted, smile turning lopsided, teasing. "I'll be seeing you soon, little musician."
There was something in his tone—something weighty beneath the ease—but before you could question it, a sharp crack split through the quiet.
A twig snapping.
Your breath caught. The sound was close—too close. The night air thickened, charged with something unseen, your pulse skipping as your senses sharpened.
A shadow shifted just beyond the tree line, stepping hesitantly into the torch-lit clearing.
Telemachus.
Your stomach twisted at the sight of him. He stood just at the edge of the light, framed by the silver glow of the stars, his posture stiff—almost uncertain. His dark eyes found yours instantly, the flickering torches casting restless shadows across his face.
"____," he said softly, clearing his throat before glancing away, as if collecting himself. Then, quieter, more hesitant—"Can we talk?"
Instinctively, you turned slightly, expecting Hermes' presence beside you, a snide remark or knowing grin at your expense.
But when you looked, the space where he had been was empty.
The only thing that remained was the whisper of the wind, as if he had never been there at all.
Your mind reeled, struggling to catch up. Hermes was gone. Telemachus was here. And now—he was asking to talk.
You swallowed hard, pushing down the tangle of emotions threatening to resurface.
"Of course," you murmured, voice steadier than you felt.
Because despite the uncertainty, the exhaustion, the unresolved weight between you—one thing was clear.
Whatever Telemachus had to say, you were ready to hear it.
He moved quietly, lowering himself beside you on the ledge. The air between you settled into something fragile yet familiar—not tense, but not entirely at ease either.
Neither of you spoke.
For a long moment, you just sat there, listening to the distant crash of waves against the cliffs below. The wind carried the scent of salt and cypress, weaving through the silence like a presence of its own.
He exhaled slowly, barely audible over the night's quiet hum. His fingers flexed against his knees, gripping the fabric of his tunic like it was the only thing anchoring him. At first, his posture was rigid, but as the silence stretched, his shoulders slumped slightly—like something within him had finally given in.
You turned toward him just as he lowered his head, eyes cast downward, expression caught somewhere between thoughtfulness and quiet remorse. His lips parted like he wanted to speak, but he hesitated.
And then, finally, he looked at you.
His brown eyes met yours, raw and unguarded, holding an intensity that sent your heart skittering, bracing yourself for whatever was to come, and then—
"I'm sorry," he murmured. His voice was soft, but the weight behind it was immense. "For everything."
His fingers curled into his palms, nails pressing into his skin. "I've been acting like a fool. I see it now," he admitted, his tone edged with frustration—though not at you. "The way I've treated you, the way I've kept things from you... I don't know why I thought that was fair. As if you could read my mind, as if you could just... understand the weight of everything I've been trying to juggle without me even telling you."
He let out a breath, shaking his head. "That's not fair to you. It never was."
You said nothing, letting him speak, letting him unravel what had clearly been building inside him.
His hand dragged over his face before dropping limply to his lap. "I don't even know where to start," he admitted. His lips pressed into a thin line before he sighed. "Lady Andreia. She... " He hesitated, then forced himself to say it. "She proposed a marriage alliance the first time we spoke alone."
A sharp pang shot through your chest, but you pushed it down, focusing on the way his face twisted, on the flicker of barely contained disgust in his eyes.
"I didn't see it coming," he continued, voice tight. "Not at all. I thought—" He scoffed at himself. "I thought she was just trying to recover after losing her brother. I never imagined she'd have her sights set on me, on Ithaca. Gods, I was blind to it. Completely blindsided."
His jaw clenched, frustration bleeding into every word. "And then I went to my parents. I told them everything." He let out a humorless laugh. "They weren't surprised. Not really. My father, being who he is, took it in stride. He spoke of alternatives—military alliances, cultural exchanges—but I could see it in his eyes." He exhaled sharply. "He was testing me. Seeing if I would choose duty over myself."
His voice dropped, quieter now. "And my mother... she reminded me that Andreia isn't just a princess. She's a girl who lost her brother, trying to secure a future for herself the only way she's ever been taught." His gaze flickered toward the sky, though he didn't really seem to see it. "And I hated it. Hated that it made sense. Hated that I could understand why she was doing this. Hated that I didn't know how to escape it without making things worse."
Silence settled between you, heavy and unmoving.
And then, in a voice quieter than before, Telemachus whispered, "I should have told you the moment it happened."
Your breath caught.
His hands trembled slightly as he flexed his fingers, his expression twisting into something deeply regretful. "I should have come to you," he admitted, his voice cracking at the edges. "I should have let you know instead of making you piece things together on your own. Instead of making you feel like I was shutting you out."
His throat bobbed as he swallowed, and when he spoke again. "I didn't want you to—"
He stopped abruptly, jaw tightening.
Didn't want you to what? Worry? Hurt? See how much it was affecting him?
Whatever it was, he didn't say it.
Instead, he let out a long breath, his shoulders sagging. "But by doing that, I made it worse," he admitted. "I made you worry anyway. I made you doubt things I should have been clear about from the start. And now..." He let out a soft, bitter laugh. "Now I've only made a mess of things. Because I was too much of a fool to realize how much keeping this from you would hurt you."
He dragged a hand through his hair, his fingers clenching briefly in frustration before dropping to his lap again. "I don't know how to fix this," he admitted, voice raw. "But I don't want there to be distance between us. Not anymore."
His gaze found yours again, and this time, there was something desperate in it. Something pleading.
"I just... I need you to know that, no matter what happens, no matter what people expect of me, no matter what Lady Andreia or my parents or the gods themselves want..." He swallowed hard, breath unsteady. "It's you I trust. It's you I care about."
His voice barely made it above a whisper, but the weight of his words crashed into you like a wave.
There was no uncertainty in his gaze—only truth, raw and unspoken, laid bare beneath the moonlight.
As you stared into his eyes, a part of you—the one that had spent so long second-guessing, doubting, questioning—shouted in triumph. See? it whispered, See? You were foolish to doubt him. Shame followed close behind, a quiet, creeping thing. Had you truly been so blind to his feelings all this time?
But despite that relief, one thing stood out, repeating over and over in your mind like a mantra, sticking to you like a burr you couldn't shake:
"No matter what happens, no matter what people expect of me, no matter what Lady Andreia or my parents or the gods themselves want... It's you I trust. It's you I care about."
Telemachus trusts you. He cares about you.
Does that... does that mean he—?
Your breath hitched, stomach tightening with a rush of something overwhelming, something far too big to process all at once. It was one thing to feel the connection between you, to share these quiet, stolen moments, but to hear him say it, to know that he put you above all else, was another thing entirely.
Your heart pounded, so loud you thought he might hear it. You swallowed, gaze flickering away for a moment, as if breaking eye contact might steady you. But it didn't.
Slowly, cautiously, you lifted your gaze back to his, and before you could stop yourself, the question slipped from your lips, soft and uncertain. "You... care about me?"
Telemachus stilled.
For just a fraction of a second, his entire body locked up, eyes widening slightly before he coughed, looking away. His grip on his knees tightened, and you saw it—the moment of panic, the scramble for an excuse, the way his lips parted like he might try to laugh it off, to dismiss the weight of his words.
But instead of denial, instead of some hurried deflection, he exhaled slowly. His shoulders loosened, a tired, almost self-deprecating smile tugging at his lips.
And then, before you could react, he reached over and took your hand in his.
The warmth of his touch sent a jolt through you. His fingers brushed against your skin, slow and deliberate, tracing soothing patterns along the back of your hand. His hold was firm but gentle, as if grounding himself as much as he was grounding you.
"Of course, ____," he murmured, quiet but certain. "Why wouldn't I care for the one I love?"
Your breath faltered.
Your entire body locked up, as though the words had physically struck you.
The one I love.
The rush of emotions that overtook you was near unbearable. Happiness, fear, disbelief—all of it at once, making your head spin. Your fingers trembled in his hold, and you barely managed to whisper his name. "Telemachus..."
But the prince wasn't finished.
He shook his head, his grip tightening slightly, his other hand covering yours like he was trying to reassure you, trying to make sure you understood. Then, carefully, he shifted, angling himself toward you fully, his expression raw with something so painfully tender it made your heart ache.
"____, you have to understand," he said, voice softer now, carrying the weight of years, of things left unspoken. "This isn't something new, something I just realized. It's been there—gods, it's always been there. I just..." He let out a breath, lips pressing together before continuing.
"I think I first knew when we were children," he admitted, voice tinged with nostalgia. "The first time I heard you singing to my mother, soothing her when nothing else could. You had this way of making the world feel... lighter. Safer." He chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Even then, I think I was falling for you. Slowly. Every day. In ways I didn't even recognize until it was too late."
You felt your throat tighten, emotion clawing its way up, making it difficult to breathe.
"I always thought I had time," he confessed, his fingers curling slightly against your skin. "Time to gather the courage, to find the right moment. But then everything started shifting—my father's return, Bronte, the favor. And suddenly, I realized how quickly things could be taken away." His eyes flickered with something pained, something desperate. "I realized I couldn't wait anymore."
Slowly, carefully, he reached out, his fingers grazing your cheek—warm, reverent. Your breath hitched, your skin tingling where he touched. When you met his gaze again, it was filled with something so deep, so consuming, it nearly swallowed you whole.
"But I understand," he murmured, softer now, as if afraid to break the moment. "I understand that this isn't simple. That I can't just throw caution to the wind and expect you to do the same." His thumb brushed against your cheekbone, featherlight. "I know that for me, it's easy to say I don't care about titles or expectations. But for you... it's different."
Your heart clenched. He understood. He truly understood.
"I would be a fool to ignore that," he continued. "A fool to act as though this isn't complicated, as though it doesn't put an unfair burden on you." His voice dropped lower, the vulnerability in his tone making your chest ache. "But I don't care what the world says. I don't care what Andreia wants, or what my parents expect, or what the gods themselves decide."
He swallowed, eyes dark and unwavering.
"I'm saying this because I need you to know. Not because I expect an answer, not because I want to rush you into something you're not ready for." His lips curled into a faint, almost self-deprecating smile. "I just need you to know that from this moment on, I will be vying for your love."
Your breath caught in your throat.
"You don't have to take my heart," he whispered, "but it's yours regardless."
Your chest was so tight it hurt, your emotions swirling so wildly you could barely keep yourself together.
Telemachus gave you a small, almost pleading smile. "You don't have to say anything," he murmured. "Not now. Not yet. I just... " His thumb brushed against your cheek once more, reverent, tender. "I just want to spend this moment with you. If you'll let me."
Your vision blurred slightly, a single tear slipping down your cheek before you could stop it. He caught it with his thumb, wiping it away as gently as if he were handling something fragile.
A soft, trembling smile curled at your lips. "Okay," you whispered.
And so, you sat there, your hands still clasped in his, his warmth anchoring you as the world stilled around you.
And as if the heavens themselves had been waiting for this moment, the clouds above shifted, parting just enough to reveal a brilliant glow.
Venus peeked out from the darkness, luminous and radiant, casting a gentle silver light over you both.

I just got an idea of Valeria trying to court a painfully obvious and slow reader. I was reading your bimbo hcs and just thought of it. All I can think of for reference is Adrien Agreste from miraculous. The reader would unintentionally friendzone Valeria, making it seem impossible for Valeria to succeed. Do with this information what you please :p ^_^
-💋xoxo
I love love love the oblivious trope. Adrien's level of obliviousness was definitely something else. Especially with the wax statue scene...
I just think it's super fun when a character has to really work for that relationship. Like yes, show me you're truly committed. If they aren't willing to be unknowingly rejected five times, then I don't WANT IT!
also since you mentioned the bimbo headcanons then I'm going to assume you wanted Reader to be similar here. I like this idea so much I might write a little one-shot for it someday
Valeria and Oblivious Reader
Valeria absolutely ADORES you. Even if you maybe aren't too bright. You and Valeria met because you worked at a clothing store. She just happened to stop by one day to check it out and saw you very enthusiastically styling some woman.
Suddenly Valeria had no sense of style and needed you to help her out. She approached you confidently and was pleasantly surprised to find you not intimidated by her. In fact, you gushed over her tattoos and touched her arm. You also loved her 'super cool haircut.'
Valeria proceeded to show up whenever she could. Chatting you up and befriending you. It wasn't hard, you were so friendly and eager to talk to her. Unfortunately, you didn't pick up on flirting. At all. At first, it could be excused, she was being subtle and testing the waters but one time she told you how kissable your lips looked, and you just replied with all the lip products you used. Valeria did not care about the brand of lip-gloss you used. Although she did go and buy some. She'd put it on her lips and pretend she just kissed you.
Bless her heart, she was doing her best. You took her compliments on your figure as friendly bantering.
Valeria was very generous with her gifts and money, too. Always showing up with roses. Jewelry. She even paid for your rent a few times and always paid for your dates hangouts. Oh, you like that dress but can't afford it? Valeria will get it for you. You just have to give her a kiss first. You laughed off her silly words.
When flirting didn't work, Valeria tried to make herself seem more physically attractive. Tighter shirts to show off her chest and arms, taking extra care into styling her hair. Valeria was proud of her physique and would often flex for you, hoping to get a compliment. She tried out eyeliner, but you had to wipe it off and fix it for her. Not that she minded of course. You had your hands on her face and were practically staring right into her eyes.
"Just a few inches and we'll be kissing." She said. Her voice was serious and low, hoping you'd take the bait and close the gap. You just giggled, and she left feeling defeated.
She even tried confessing at one point. She sat you down one day and told you how much you meant to her. How happy she was to have you in her life. When you responded by saying you knew exactly how she felt and that you felt the same, she got so excited thinking you two were finally going to become an item. Then you spoke again, shattering those dreams.
"You're such a good friend!"
Valeria just stared at you before forcing a smile onto her lips. She agreed then left.
She had attempted to ask you out numerous times, too. She figured taking you to a fancy restaurant outside of the city would be self-explanatory. She even dressed up for the occasion. You were thoroughly impressed and yet somehow still missed the mark. Referring to the date as a 'hangout.'
She'd boast about her wealth and achievements in hopes of attracting you. Valeria makes so much money, she could take care of you. She actually just had her bathroom remodeled, didn't you know? The bathtub is big enough for two people, you should come over and join her for a nice warm bath and some wine. She just got a new bed too and it's so comfortable but too big for just her. She needs someone to come keep her warm at night. She'd love to cook you breakfast in bed sometime. Oh, and she saw this beautiful sheer lingerie set. You'd look gorgeous in it. Incredibly obvious flirting and you somehow, SOMEHOW thought she was being friendly.
"Oh, I've never shared a bath with a friend before."
Valeria wanted to rip her hair out.
Things were looking hopeless. She was beginning to think you did pick up what she was laying down. That you were just friendzoning her on purpose. She invited you to her house one day and made you dinner, listening to you ramble. After you were finished eating she invited you to sit with her on the couch and once you were sat, she grabbed your thigh and got up in your face.
"I want you to be my girlfriend."
She made sure she was very clear this time. No room for interpretation.
"In a romantic way. I want us to sleep together and wake up together. I want to live together and go on romantic dates."
You gasped, all surprised. You totally didn't see this coming. Why didn't Valeria give you any clues?? Of course you want to be her girlfriend. It took a year and a couple of months but you finally got the hint.

pairing(s): choi beomgyu x you, choi yeonjun x you
summary: you love beomgyu, your best friend, so much it makes you sick. literally. like, sick in the sense that your days are numbered as you try to fight off the hanahaki threatening to kill you every time he breaks your heart with his loving girlfriend, so you decide you'll try getting over him with the help of his girlfriend's friend, yeonjun.
genre: ANGST, melodrama, romance, hanahaki
warnings: lots of clichés, serious illnesses, and mentions of death
word count: 5.2k
notes: surprise! i didn't think i'd get this out just yet but here it is <3 please don't be mean (i'm fragile) and feedback is always appreciated!
it’s a bearable sort of pain, but it’s still painful, nonetheless. bearable is a very loose term, too, because you know if and when things continue as they are, you will no longer be able to write your symptoms off so casually. and as you lean over beomgyu’s toilet and watch purple petals stained with crimson red blood swirling down the drain, you know it won’t be long before your pain crosses from “bearable” to “hellish”.
still, you manage to flush the evidence of your dying heart and take a good look at yourself in the mirror. your lips are nice and bloody, your makeup nice and smudged. you calmly take out the emergency mouthwash and makeup from your bag and get to work. after you’re finished tidying up, it’s almost like nothing ever happened. with a shaky smile and slightly reddened eyes, you leave his bathroom and prepare for the worst.
and the worst, it is. you just so happen to walk in to beomgyu’s living room while he plants a kiss on his girlfriend’s cheek as she giggles like mad. suddenly, your chest hurts even more than it already did and you find it hard to breathe. well, back to the bathroom you go.

you wish it were like the stories. you wish you could get some magical surgery to remove the flowers from your lungs — yes, even if it meant forgetting beomgyu. if you were a better person, you would say you’d rather die with your love than forget him; but as you’ve come to find out, you guess you’re not that selfless. actually, with the way things are now, you think it’d be better to forget. but unfortunately for you, there is no such solution in this world.
as it stands, the only way for you to cure your illness is by finding another love, which you have been too stubborn to try, but as you die a little more and more every day, you realize you have to do something. beomgyu is getting more serious with his girlfriend with every passing day, and even before that, he never once looked at you like anything other than a best friend — which you thought was killing you at the time, in a figurative sense, but now it’s killing you in the most literal of ways and you’re desperate.
you want to tell yourself that beomgyu needs you, and maybe he does, but he does not need your love the way you need his. the proof of this sentiment being that one of you is, at present, dying for the love of the other, and it’s not him.
-
it’s hard to hate beomgyu’s girlfriend when she’s so fucking nice, so you stopped trying to hate her long, long ago. in another life, you might even call each other friends. in this one, though, it’s a quiet sort of dance where you neither push nor pull her too hard. if she’s there, you greet her with a smile on your face. if she’s not, you don’t ask about her. it’s a delicate little charade, but one you play the part in flawlessly. beomgyu commends you for being “so cool” with her, but you have no other choice. if you veer too much in one direction or the other, you run the risk of losing him for good.
so she is, understandably, very surprised when you wait for beomgyu to go to the bathroom before asking her if she has any single friends.
“oh my god, really? i thought you'd never ask!” she exclaims, and you paste on a smile so sweet it’s sickening.
turns out, she has a lot of friends, unlike you, and many of them are, in her words, handsome. she pulls up a picture of a few of them and your eye is caught by one in particular.
“who’s that one?” you ask, pointing to a black-haired boy with an undercut.
“that’s yeonjun,” she grins. “oh, i just knew you’d like him. you’re totally his type, too. he’s gonna freak when i set you two up.”
“what’s going on?” beomgyu cuts, and your short-lived giddiness is shot in the head almost instantly.
“baby, you’ll never believe it. she’s interested in yeonjun,” she declares, still as excited as ever.
beomgyu turns to you with a look you can only describe as odd. you never talk about dating with him. like, ever. you don’t even seem interested in the idea to the point where he very earnestly sat you down one day and asked you if you were asexual, to which you spent a very arduous few hours awkwardly explaining that you are not. honestly? he didn’t really believe it at the time, but he’s beginning to now, if only because you seem so incredibly flustered at the moment.
“really? that’s great,” he says after a slightly off-putting pause, but thankfully, nobody catches it. “you know, for a second there, i thought you were gonna be our future kids’ single wine aunt forever. i’m glad you’re finally putting yourself out there.” god, he doesn't even know how much he hurts you, but he hurts you all the same. he’s spoken about marrying and having children with her, but to think that you fall into the “fun aunt” role in his future with her just makes you feel sick. you’d better pray that this shit with yeonjun goes well, because your lungs are starting to ache just as the thought.
“this is great,” she says, breaking you out of your trance. “how about this: we’ll go on a double date. that sounds fun, right?”
“actually, i think i’d like to meet him on my own first, if that’s cool with you,” you say. the last thing you need is for the love of your life to be there on your first date with another man. what if things go wrong? or worse, what if things go right? beomgyu can’t be there for that. you can’t do that to poor yeonjun.
she looks disappointed at your words, but beomgyu cheers her up by pinching her cheeks and promising that you’ll all have plenty of chances to go out together if things go well. you try to smile, you really do, but you’re not sure if what comes out looks anything even remotely close to one. luckily, it seems like they’re too absorbed in each other to notice.
-
you haven’t talked much with yeonjun before tonight, opting to meet him in person to see if the chemistry is there before wasting any time with just “talking”. you simply don’t have the time to spare, and yeonjun seems equally as eager to meet you for reasons unknown. so now you sit all dolled up and glammed out at the back of a dimly lit restaurant as you wait to meet the boy you can only pray will save you. he must have no idea how much you need this.
when you first see him, you’re taken aback by how handsome he is. you see beomgyu every day, and he’s the handsomest man in the world to you, but something about yeonjun is different. when he introduces himself and you get to know each other, his charisma charms you in a way you sincerely did not anticipate. he’s funny and goofy, which is just how you like them. you haven’t been on a date in god knows how long, but you’re starting to think that maybe this previously incomprehensibly doomed situation may not be so inescapable after all. that is, until he’s taking you home.
it’s dark outside and he graciously gives you his jacket like the gentleman he is, and you’re walking notably close together on the sidewalk, bodies brushing each other every few steps when he tells you something that just might change your life.
“listen, i really had fun tonight,” he says nervously, and it’s like you can feel the rejection before he even says anything more.
“but to be honest with you, my intentions aren’t exactly pure.” your heart drops. does he just want to sleep with you or something? that wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, but it’s not what you need. you need to love someone and for that someone to love you back so you don’t get sick beyond salvation. the only way to get over beomgyu is by getting serious with someone else.
“then what do you want?” you question feebly. he stops walking and turns to look at you, placing his hands on your shoulders.
“i want to fall in love with you, and i want you to fall in love with me. i want us to be together forever. i need it, actually.” he says eerily seriously, and you’re confused for a few moments before it dawns on you.
“you’re sick, aren’t you?” you ask, and his face hardens for a second before he nods.
“y-yeah, i'm sick. if you don't wanna see me again after this, i understand. i just —”
“it's okay. i am, too,” you say with a small, reassuring smile.
“you too?” he asks, eyes comically wide and pouty lips agape in an “o”.
“yeah,” you tell him, and he’s quiet for a few moments before he laughs. it’s a cute, pretty little thing, and it makes you join him, too.
“wow, maybe meeting each other was fate,” he says between giggles.
“maybe,” you reply. and for the first time in a long time, you think you might really make it out of this alive.
-
“and you won’t believe it, but he told me he spent the whole night with her!” beomgyu’s girlfriend says proudly.
“... what?” he mumbles dazedly.
“he said he went over to her place and stayed there all night, and on the first date, too!” she babbles. “now, he didn’t tell me what they did, but if i know yeonjun, i bet they —”
“stop,” he cuts in. he doesn’t know why, but he feels that if he hears one more word about it, something will feel horribly wrong. it already does feel wrong, in a way, but he can’t quite put his finger on why.
“why? aren’t you happy for them?” she asks confusedly.
“i… i am. it’s just weird, y’know? she’s like… like a sister to me. nobody wants to hear about their sister’s private life,” he reasons, and she nods in response.
“i guess that makes sense,” she says. “but still, i’m so happy for them. especially him. he’s actually had a rough time, lately. i don’t know why, but he’s been acting kinda weird with me, so i —”
“you’re here!” beomgyu says as you walk through his front door. he’s been expecting you. since your first date with yeonjun, he’s been eagerly texting you about it. you haven’t responded much, but he’s been chalking it up to how busy you must be with your new, well, whatever yeonjun is to you. he’s excited when he thinks about how he’ll get to see how you two interact with each other tonight since his girlfriend suggested you all hang out together, but part of him feels off about this entire situation. what he told her was the truth: it is weird to see you with someone, but maybe he’s just not used to it. you’ve never been openly attracted to anyone before, so it’s brand new territory to navigate.
you greet him with a soft smile and not much else, which strikes him as odd, but yeonjun trails in after you, and all other thoughts go out of the window.
“hey, man! nice to see you. it’s been a while,” he says, and yeonjun reciprocates the same excitement, going in for a side hug.
beomgyu’s girlfriend goes in for a hug, too, and yeonjun freezes for a bit, but it goes unnoticed by everyone besides you. you look at him with as much reassurance and understanding as you can muster, and he replies with a grateful, shaky smile.
honestly, you weren’t terribly surprised when he told you that the object of his affections was the very person who holds the heart of the object of yours. she’s a bubbly, lively kind of girl, and it’s easy to fall in love with someone like that. if anything, it just makes you think that maybe yeonjun was right when he said meeting each other was fate.
the night is pretty fun, all things considered, and you find yourself not wanting to die while spending time with the loving couple, but that’s only because yeonjun is sitting next to you. when something particularly devastating happens, you grab each other’s hands and squeeze like you’re the other’s only lifeline. in a way, you kind of are. without him, you’d be on a one-way train to certain death, and without you, he’d be the same.
things are pretty light, though, until beomgyu says he has an announcement to make.
“we’re moving in together!” his girlfriend cheerily cuts in before he can do the honors, and that’s enough to make any hard-earned progress go out the window. you feel your stomach churn and you’re finding it hard to breathe. you look very visibly ill, and while yeonjun is not doing much better, you definitely take it a lot harder.
“that’s amazing! i’m happy for you guys!” yeonjun chirps.
“yeah. sorry, i think i need to go to the bathroom,” you mumble, and yeonjun concernedly looks at you before you subtly shake your head. in that brief look, you have an entire conversation. he asks if you’re alright and if you need him to come with you to spill your guts out, and you tell him you’re not, but you’d rather go alone.
while his girlfriend may not catch it, beomgyu certainly does. that odd, silent conversation that only yeonjun and you seem privy to. the fact that you two seem to have a level of understanding with words unspoken makes him feel suffocated, and there’s an unknown sharpness in his chest.
he tries to join back in on the banter, but he can’t shake the uncanny feeling he has, so he excuses himself and follows you to the bathroom.
now, he knows this is really fucking weird to do, so he almost doesn’t do it, but the sound of you retching makes him abandon all consideration of right and wrong. he presses his ear to the door and hears hushed sobs in between hacks, and it makes his eyes widen in horror and concern.
he’s not sure how much time passes, but he hears the heartbreaking sounds die out, and then he hears the water run and you clearing your throat. he takes the cue to stop pressing against the door, and before long, you step out of the bathroom while looking perfectly put together. you flinch almost imperceptibly when you catch him right outside the door.
“are you alright?!” he exclaims, but you just nod and begin to push past him, murmuring something about being fine, but that you and yeonjun need to leave because something came up. he didn’t even know you could move so fast, and he finds that he’s borderline chasing you to the living room where his girlfriend and yeonjun look up in surprise at the scene before them.
“do we need to leave?” yeonjun asks carefully.
“yeah,” you say shortly, and you’re booking it out of the door and onto the porch before beomgyu grabs your arm and spins you around to face him. his girlfriend hesitantly follows yeonjun outside and watches the entire ordeal as puzzle pieces begin to fit together in her mind.
“are you alright?!” he repeats, and you just face him with a withering, humbling look.
“i’m okay. i just don’t feel good tonight, but i’ll be alright. congratulations on everything, i’m sorry i can’t stay to celebrate.” and normally that would be enough to throw him off of your scent, but beomgyu remembers your muffled cries, and he won’t be swayed so easily.
“what’s wrong? no bullshit. just tell me,” he demands in a way that is uncharacteristically solemn, but you can’t answer that. the only way to get him to forget about you is for you to distract him with the person he loves most.
“but your girlfriend —”
“don't even start. what’s wrong?” he, well, asks isn’t even really the world, is it? there’s no room for negotiation in his tone.
“i… i’m sick,” is all you can really say.
“sick how? sick like you need me to take you home?” and he doesn’t really believe his own implication that it’s something so easily fixable, but he has to try.
“i’m… i’m really sick. sick like i’m dying, sick,” you manage to croak out, and it’s everything he feared and more.
“what’s wrong?! do you need to go to the hospital?!” he panics, and you feel an overwhelming sense of dread. this is what you wanted to avoid because he can’t help you. nobody can.
“baby?” the soft voice of his girlfriend pipes up from behind you. his gaze is torn away from you for just a moment, but that’s enough to make you ache.
“not now!” he snaps before turning his attention back to you, but it’s too late. you feel the sharp stems scratching at your lungs, causing a scorching sort of pain you can’t even put into words. slowly, you begin to cough — choke, really — and beomgyu is helpless to watch as you clutch your chest and hack up a mess of bloodied, tangled flowers. his eyes widen as he takes in the blood seeping from the corners of your mouth.
“who?” he asks shakily as you finish coughing up the last of the petals, and you know he’s asking who your unrequited love is, but you don’t reply. you can’t reply.
“who is it?” he asks again with more edge to his voice, but you still can’t muster up the courage to answer him. you could lie like you usually do, but you’re so tired, you just can’t anymore.
“baby?” his girlfriend repeats.
“what?!” he snaps, unable to help himself from losing his temper as he turns to look at her.
“it’s… it’s you,” is all she says, and his scowl drops and morphs into incredulity and dread.
“that's impossible,” he whispers, but one look at you and your twisted expression is enough to erase all doubt. “m-me? listen, you know i love you, but i —”
“it's alright,” you coax, trying to placate him. even in your darkest moments, you're still putting his feelings first, and the thought alone is suffocating him. “i know. i really, really do. you don’t have to explain it to me.” and your “comforting” smile would be more convincing if it weren't stained red.
“but you’re sick! you —”
“i’ll be alright,” you whisper, and he’s at a loss for words at how calm you seem to be. how can you be so resigned? he looks at you — really, truly looks at you — for the first time in god knows how long, and he finally notices how different you are. your frame is lighter, your cheeks are more pronounced, and there are violet bags underneath your bloodshot eyes. how could he have missed so many signs? you’re dying, no way around it, and he was so busy playing house with his girlfriend, he had no idea just how much you were — are — suffering. it’s unforgivable, but he can tell you’ve forgiven him, anyway. how long have you been forgiving him? since the start of his current relationship? or even before that?
“we should go,” yeonjun cuts in tentatively. you just tearily nod, and before beomgyu can say anything more, you’re in yeonjun’s car and driving away.
-
he calls and texts for days on end, but you don’t respond. at some point, he resolves to come see you in person. the way you looked the last time he saw you haunts him viciously. he just has to see you. he just has to be sure.
but when he shows up at your doorstep, you just look exhausted and even worse for wear. you don’t greet him, even, you just sigh and walk back to your bedroom before plopping down into the bed and looking at him with a look he can only describe as unreadable.
“i just h-had to make sure you’re okay,” he stammers.
“i’m okay,” you reply gently. “i just need some time.”
“b-but maybe if i —”
“it won’t work. the only way out of this is for you to love me back, or for me to get over you. yeonjun is helping me, so it’s going to be alright, i think.”
“what if i —”
“you can’t make yourself love me, beomgyu,” you say softly, the slightest tinge of a reprimand in your voice.
“i… i can try,” he whimpers.
“yes, but i don't want you to. you have a girlfriend,” you patiently reply, but your seemingly unshakable patience just makes him more desperate.
“then what do you want me to do? i’m killing you!” he exclaims, and you wince as a sharp pain strikes your temples at the noise. he notices your response, and he just wants to die from the guilt.
“i don’t want you to do anything. that’s why i didn’t tell you.” how could you not want him to do anything? how could you possibly ask that of him?
“h-how can you say that? how can you just expect me to watch you die?” he whines, tears spilling down his cheeks as he looks to you for a perfect solution that will never come.
“i’m alright,” you tell him again, but the way you wheeze afterwards suggests otherwise.
he goes to grab you, maybe to pat your back or maybe to hold you, he’s not really sure, but you feebly put your hand up to stop him before he gets too close. it’s an innocent gesture in and of itself, yet it somehow feels like you just smacked him across the face.
“don’t touch me,” you say, but it’s more like a plea than anything else. “it’ll just hurt me more.” with that, your words devolve into a coughing fit and all he can do is watch as splatters of blood and stems stain the tissue you cough into. he never, not in a million years, thought that his touch would hurt you. it’s supposed to soothe you like nothing else. you know, the way your touch soothes him.
“i think you should go,” you suggest after your coughing has died down. he can see the aftermath of his mere presence etched into the tired lines on your face, and he feels less like a person and more like the scum of the earth.
-
“what are you thinking about?” a sweet voice says, effectively pulling him out of his reverie. beomgyu is currently supposed to be cooking dinner with his girlfriend, but he’s spending more time spacing out than actually cooking the noodles he’s meant to be stirring.
“n-nothing,” he sputters, but her knit eyebrows and frown let him know he has to elaborate. still, he pretends he doesn’t notice her silent urging and returns to his task.
he can feel her stare on him as he watches the pot, and it’s not very long before she sighs and says her next words.
“you’re thinking about her, aren’t you?”
“what? n-no! i just —”
“yes, you are.” and her tone isn’t accusatory, but it’s filled with a sense of knowing. “it’s normal to think about her, you know? she’s dying and —”
“don’t say that! why would you say that?! she’s not going to die!” he yells, slamming down the fork he was using to stir and turning to face her. he’s visibly shaking with rage — which makes no sense given that he knows, she knows, and even you know that her words are true.
“she’s going to die,” she repeats. “you need to accept that.”
“how can you expect me to accept that?! you two just expect me to be okay with her fucking dying! well, i’m not!” he cries, tears streaming down his face as his words get louder and louder.
“... i think you need to take some time to cool down. i’ll stay with my parents, so do what you need to do. when you’re ready, just call me, okay?” she says, and he only sobers up after he hears the front door slam shut.
-
beomgyu stays in an odd sort of purgatory. he’s constantly torn between contacting you and leaving you alone like you so obviously want. he tells himself that you’re his best friend, so of course he wants to see you and comfort you, but it feels much deeper than that. like there’s something unsolved and untouched that he just needs to dig a little deeper to figure out, but as for what that something is, he can’t seem to quite grasp.
with this in mind, he never, not in a million years, anticipated that you’d be here on his doorstep. but here you are. you look even worse than before, somehow, which he is surprised by seeing as how things with yeonjun seem to be going well if yeonjun’s instagram updates of the both of you mean anything at all. he invites you in and offers you a seat, but you refuse.
“come on, sit down. you must be tired,” he urges, but you wave your hand.
“i don’t need to stay here long,” you dismiss, and it hurts his heart. “i just need one thing from you, and i’ll be out of here.”
“you need something from me? sure, anything! w-what is it?” and he sounds so hopeful, so earnest. maybe there’s a way to undo what he’s done. maybe he can help you after all. no matter what it is, he knows he can do it.
“... i need you to reject me,” is all you say, but the words ring in his ears. reject you? how can he reject you when it looks like a breeze could knock you over?
“b-but why?” he stammers, and you sigh.
“i finally figured it out. i just need to hear you tell me that you don’t love me, then i think i’ll be able to fully let you go for good.” usually, you’d have a soft smile on your face in order to comfort him, but your face is blank except for your eyes, which seem more desperate than anything he’s ever seen. but your words confuse him.
“let me go for good?”
“yeah. i think if i can just hear you say it, i won’t need to see you anymore. i won’t ask for anything else, i just need to hear it from you,” you say determinedly. but he’s stuck on “i won’t need to see you anymore”. what could you possibly mean by that?
“what do you mean you won't need to see me anymore?” he asks, voice devoid of any ill intent, but filled with genuine confusion.
“i mean, yeonjun doesn’t like me seeing you for obvious reasons, but i told him that i think i’ll be okay after this.” his confusion turns into dread. things that were a mystery to him suddenly make perfect sense.
“i can’t,” he chokes out, and you’re visibly stunned before anger explodes inside of you.
“you can’t? what the fuck do you mean you can’t? why can’t you?!” you seethe. you’ve done everything for beomgyu, you even almost paid the ultimate price for him just so you wouldn’t have to make him uncomfortable with your feelings. you’re quite literally dying because of him, and he can’t offer up a meager sentence for you?
“i… i can’t say it. please don’t make me say it,” he pleads. “i’ll do anything else — anything, i swear to god!”
“beomgyu, there is nothing else. this is the only way. i’m not asking you for much, just say it, then i’ll be okay.” but he can’t do what you ask of him. not when he’s realized what he just realized.
“b-but i… i do love you. i’m sorry, i just didn’t realize it until just now, but i do. a-and if you’ll have me, i —” smack! and his pathetic speech is stopped by your hand meeting his cheek.
“you are so fucking selfish,” you spit, voice low, but vibrating with rage. “more selfish than i will ever be able to understand.”
“w-what do you —”
“beomgyu, you have a girlfriend. a girlfriend who loves you. what about her? huh?” you ask, and his previous momentum falters, but you’re not even finished yet.
“and if she gets sick, are you gonna leave me and tell her you want her instead? you can’t do that, beomgyu. i won’t accept that. i won’t accept your love just because you feel sorry for me,” you declare, voice cracking as thick, hot tears roll down your cheeks. he’s still speechless, so you somehow find it in yourself to continue.
“i’m not doing this with you right now. call your girlfriend, tell her you’re sorry, and tell her she doesn’t have to worry about me anymore. and even if i’m gone, don’t you dare tell her what you told me today, okay?” and it’s not really an ask as much as a demand.
“i can’t do that,” he whispers, and you’re not sure if the ache in your heart comes from the briars encircling it or from how pained he looks.
“i know i’m selfish. i know i’m a bastard. but seeing you with yeonjun, or worse, not seeing you at all? that’ll fucking kill me. i just can’t do it. i don’t want to hurt her, but i don’t want to lie to her. or you. or myself,” he says shakily.
“what are you saying?” you ask. this is not how you anticipated things would go.
“i’m saying that if you leave me, i’ll be sick,” he says shakily. “j-just the thought of that makes me…” and it’s a surprise to the both of you when he coughs like crazy, and it’s to the horror to the both of you when a pretty, blood-stained violet petal escapes his mouth.
“oh god,” you whisper. “you can’t do this.”
“i can’t help it!” he exclaims. “i didn’t know before, but it’s true. i just didn’t realize it. i’m just — i’m just sorry i didn’t realize it.”
“beomgyu, it’s going to kill her,” you say, dread evident in your tone.
“i know,” he says tearily. “but it’s you. it’s always been you. we can’t change it.”
“i can’t do this to her. it’s wrong,” is all you can say.
“i can’t live without you, and you can’t live without me,” he replies. “w-whatever happens, can we please just figure it out together? i don’t think i can handle another day without you. i think it might really kill me.” he pushes your hair off of your sweaty forehead, and you know as you feel your heart lighten that you have no choice. if not for you, then for him. whatever happens with his girlfriend, you will try your damndest to make sure she doesn't have the same fate as the two of you.
“okay?” he asks.
“o-okay,” you tell him, because what else is there to say?

Logan x Reader pt.6
I know it took forever please forgive me!

If you think I'm just milking please it let me know, there's so many better fic writers out there I really didnt think this would blow up like it did 🫶
<< Part 5 Part 7 >> Masterlist
You had thought scavenging was difficult however as you stared at the immensely filled shelves you realised choosing was harder. You’d thought to purchase some crackers, just to see if Laura had preferences; however there were twelve different types of Goldfish and Goldfish was just one brand. This whole aisle was overflowing with crackers. It was insane. Who needed this many choices?
Elektra, Gambit and Blade had tagged along, the latter only for company, and they all seemed to be in the same position. Tired eyes mindlessly scanning for anything familiar. Anything that sounded good. Did you even remember the taste of ‘spicy chilli’? Or did you prefer ‘sour cream and chives’?
The shelves were too much and they were tall. You couldn't see over them, couldn't see potential threats or keep an eye on the exits. Why did the aisles need to be this long? They were endless. Endless and bright and colourful and the store was loud. Why were there children running around? There could be anyone around the corner. Each stomp of little feet drilled a hole in your head.
Picking up speed you rounded the corner and hid yourself by a pillar. The thing was an eyesore for the employees, they definitely had trouble stocking the shelves around it, but to you it was bliss.
You rest your forehead against the cool metal and force the air out of your lungs. You took in a big gulp before forcing it out again.
The noise of the store was drowned out by your breathing, by your hammering heart. You could hear vague snippets but it sounded like when an explosion was too close. Warped and muffled at the same time.
“Mon cher?” Gambit placed a light hand on your shoulder, despite how careful he was it still caused you to jerk. “Y/N. You 're okay.” You couldn't tell what was happening but your head was moving. Was it nodding or shaking? Your mouth opened to respond but nothing, bar a few halfhearted noises, could come out. “Y/N.” He tried again, but this had never happened. You'd never felt like this. This pain in your chest. Was… did you survive the Void to have a heart attack? “‘m get ‘ogan.”
You deliriously gave him a thumbs up.
Without any sort of logic or proof you knew the floor was safe. Of course it was, it was a constant. The floor would never leave. It couldn't. So you knelt down, your knees against the linoleum and your head still against the pillar. Or was it a beam? Why was this happening? You used to be able to do this. Why couldn't you fucking shop? All this time you'd had dreams of normality and now it was here and you were too crazy to be here?
Maybe you belonged in the Void. Then again, maybe this was Cassandra. You had thought it previously, everything was far too easy. She could be laughing her ass off at how you reacted to a fake superstore. Imagine.
Noise had slowly started to come back but it was too loud. Too much. Too bright. Why was it so bright? Why did people need to be blasted in the face to see what toothpaste they needed?
Maybe this was it.
Maybe it was the end of the line.
You were just rewatching your life.
That would be... nice.
To know that there was an end.
God, that was depressing.
You didn't mean it that way and you don't know why you thought it but it actually brought you some comfort.
Not enough to stop you hyperventilating on the dirty floors, though.
“Baby?” That was Logan now. Why was he always there to save you? He didn't have to be. Hell, he didn't know you. You might be the worst version of yourself and here he was doting over you.
You didn't deserve that.
What had you done to deserve that type of love?
He had sat out on the fire escape all night and you can't even pick up fucking crackers.
Who even likes crackers!?
“Baby?” He repeated, closer now.
You turned to the side and saw him but also saw through him.
“Can you tell me your name?”
What sort of mind fuckery was this? He knows your name. “Y/N L/N.” Your voice was tiny but he could see the way your mouth formed the words.
“How many fingers am I holding up?”
Your eyes stayed trained on his face but you answered using your peripheral. “Two.” The word still small and but now just hardly audible.
“And what's this?” You let your eyes meander down to his hand and saw he was pointing at a scrubbing brush you were hunched by.
You felt your brows pull together in confusion. “Cleaning thing.”
He let out an amused huff but was sincere with his words. “Now, love, what can you hear?”
Hear? You can hear everything. Him mostly. There were footsteps and trolley wheels and the buzzing of the speakers and constant rustling of shopping bags or plastic packaging and chattering and the child running riot was now crying and the checkouts were beeping and the deli counter number was called. “Rustling?”
“What else?”
“Crying.”
“One more?” His voice had lowered, he was more breathy.
“Your breath.”
“Can you follow my breathing?”
It was even. He was breathing in and out. Like literally every other living creature. Even trees could breathe.
“Are you able to move your hand?” He continued, tapping his chest. “Put it here?”
Of course, who did he take you for? You shakily slapped it onto his chest and he held it tight. Taking in the largest breath and releasing it slowly.
He repeated that for a while and slowly you found yourself assimilated. You were copying him with perfect movements.
The constant humming in your head had stopped, the noises were bearable, the lights even seemed duller. “I- I think I'm okay now?”
“Can you stand?” His eyes were darting all over your face, trying to gauge a reaction.
You bit your lip and nodded, moving stiff legs and easing your way up. He was swift with his movements making sure you were one hundred percent okay on your wobbly legs before he stepped back.
“That's never happened before.” You felt tired, drained. Your whole body was on fire. Why was it so sore? You had mentally freaked out and now your body was aching?
“It was an anxiety attack.” He voiced the obvious but could tell you were going to argue so carried on. If he was talking you had to listen. “They're not uncommon for those who've suffered. I’ve had them due to my PTSD.” Maybe you'd feel at ease if you knew he got them as well.
“But I don't have PTSD.”
“I think you might,” You scrunch your face. “the years spent in the Void, couldn't have been easy.”
“We survived.”
“That's what VETs say.”
Your rebuttal died on your tongue as you took two seconds to actually think about it. He might be onto something. “Is that why Stark said we need a therapist?”
“Possibly.”
“The whole time I was in the Void this didn't happen.” You grumbled. “Just carried on.”
“You didn't have time then. Your brain can now process your trauma.” Damn, Lydia - his therapist - was a genius. “In a weird way this is being healthy.”
“It's called an atta-” You huffed, hugging your middle. “I don't care what's happening, I just don't want Laura to see.” You had separated in the store to cover more ground. She had wanted to wander, to see the store for herself, and you had thought you'd be able to gather everything by the time she was headed back to you.
“She may need to see. She mig-she feels like she has to be strong.” He knew what Laura thought because she was him. “She needs to be shown this is okay.”
You were getting frustrated now. “Okay but not yet. Just- I just want a nap. My head hurts. My body, too.”
“Okay, we can leave.” It was not even noon, the others would ask questions about your sleeping pattern.
“Oh wait, no, I don't want her to worry about being noisy.” You tapped your teeth together as you wracked your brain. “Can I nap in your room?”
“Of course.” He would never deny you that, it also was a win-win as he could monitor you without Laura's beady eyes stalking him.
~~
It was safe to say that your “sickness” was the worst kept secret. It was obvious to everyone what had happened and even Wade seemed concerned. So much that he postponed the party.
Logan had settled you into his bed hours ago, checking on you periodically and was just waiting for you to rise. He had nothing better to do.
You were his world.
Laura had knocked once to see if there were any updates but he had told her the truth. That he had nothing to tell and was worried himself.
She walked back with slumped shoulders, a sliver of guilt slid up Logan's back but she was gone before he could make amends.
Another knock pulled him from Laura's disappointed eyes. Logan hoisted himself off of the armchair and opened the door to see Elektra.
She reminded him of Jean in a lot of ways.
“Here.” El handed a bag over. Logan frowned and opened it to see a multi coloured box. He and you had left the store earlier than the others to get home. He had made no purchases, leaving his basket of goods on the floor where you had slumped over. He hated himself for letting you out of his sight but you had strode off so confidently and Blade was talking to him about different moterbikes. Logan was distracted for a millisecond and you had vanished. Why did he take you guys to a store that large?
“Uh.” He didn't know what to say.
“Just invite Laura over and play these.” She spelt it out. “The kid’s worried sick and won't listen to us.”
He accepted the bag and nodded once. “Okay.”
If loving you meant loving Laura he could do that. He didn't dislike the kid but he saw so much of himself in her. And he hated himself.
El turned on her heel and entered her own door, opposite his.
Logan itched his chin and sighed, walking next door. He knocked twice and waited.
Laura opened the door in a grey hoodie and your fluffy socks. “Hello.”
“You, uh, you wanna play connect four?” He shook the plastic bag.
Laura eyed the bag but nodded once and followed him into his home.
Logan's apartment was the same as yours except he had added throws, blankets, books, CDs and LPs and many more home comforts in preparation for your arrival. His home was decidedly cosier and Laura didn't hate it.
“She's still asleep so I thought we could pass the time together.” He spoke as he sat at the dining table. Laura stood behind the chair to his right and awaited instructions. “You can sit, I just need to set this up.”
Logan unravelled the contents of the bag and found Guess Who and Sorry we're sitting beneath Connect Four. He left them both on the table and delved into the first game.
Building the game wasn't difficult and explaining it to Laura was as easy as saying “connect four of the same colour, either portrait, landscape or diagonal”. The picture on the box was practically instructions.
But playing against her was challenging. She knew how to think like him, knew how to outsmart him.
It occurred to him that she was always observing people. She knew his tells. She was always present and did contribute to the conversation but she preferred to watch. To take in.
Laura was very good at connecting four so after a few games he pulled out Guess Who. That was a little bit more complicated.
“Are you George?”
Logan had thought to pick George but went for a random number - seven - and counted his way along the board. “No. Do you have long hair?”
“I do.” She agreed and he flipped the heads. “I was drawn to George so I thought you might've been.”
“You're onto something there.” Logan sipped his cola. He made sure there were snacks and drinks available.
“Blue eyes?”
“No.”
“I don't know how they got your DNA.” Laura had felt guilty. She knew her Logan didn't ask for her to be born and this one didn't even know she was a thing.
“Been around a long time.” He shrugged. “You'll have that to look forward to.”
“How long?”
“Lipstick?” She shook her head. “I've been around a good two-three hundred years.”
Laura let that settle. Would she be around that long? The doctors did thousands of tests on her but none said she'd live an extended period. “Blonde?”
Logan nodded, noticing the shift in her demeanour. “You okay?”
“That is a long time to be alive.” She picked up a chip and snapped it in half. “Y/N will be dead. And El. And Gambit.”
“You might not live as long.” He tried to make that sound like a good thing. “What's your healing factor like?”
“I've never been ‘injured’.”
He thought about that. He couldn't ask her if she had died. That might be too much for the young woman. “And the Adamantium?”
Laura frowned.
“Your claws.”
“What about them?” Finally popping the chip in her mouth.
“The metal isn't part of the mutation.”
“What?” Laura revealed her claws. They came out sharp and shiny. “They've always been like this.”
A little girl. A small child having the procedure that almost killed him. She definitely would live as long as he does. “It's bone, they added the metal.”
Laura observed her claws, hand swivelling. She had never known them to be bone. Would they even be effective?
“It's alright, though,” he shrugged, giving her a cheesy thumbs up. “You have Blade and me to keep you company.” Laura smiled and rolled her eyes. “Are you Claire?”
~~
The next few days were okay. You were still achy and found it difficult to move but you weren't totally invalid.
In fact you were playing with your newest toy. A telecommunication device. Or a phone.
Wade had burst into the front room, you all collectively sat in, paper bags in hand.
“Guys, I hope you know how odd it was for me to walk in there and ask for five phones. They thought I was a drug dealer.”
Blind Al kissed her teeth. “You could've been buying company phones, idiot.”
“Oh.” Wade slumped. “Maybe it was the meth I offered the cashier…” He handed each of you a box and squeezed himself between Gambit and Al.
There were two sofas that you all were occupying. You were sitting next to Logan, a blanket covering the two of you. Laura was sitting on the floor in front of you, she had done so you could braid her hair but decided to stay. El was perched on the arm of Al’s sofa, Gambit and Wade next to Al, and Blade was standing at Logan's side.
The setup of each phone was easy. Technology was a lot faster than you remembered.
El spoke before you all got distracted. “We have to save each other's numbers.” She knew the collective braincell liked to wander.
Each of you read out your number whilst the others typed it in. But as that happened the phones asked for a contact picture. Now that caused chaos.
El was smiling sweetly in the first pic and looked like she was being held hostage in the last. Gambit had his eyes shut and a middle finger up in practically every one. Blade was exactly the same, it was eerie, he stood statue still as you all snapped him. Laura’s eyes were confused but she did force a smile. You threw up a peace sign just for Wade to tell you it wasn't 2001 anymore. Wade had a different pose for each phone and they were all more elaborate than the last. Al didn't want to participate at all. And finally Logan, much like Laura, faked a smile until you and her took the pics.
Photos were fun. You liked photos. You'd had a trusty Polaroid back in the day and loved snapping pictures, but this was amazing. The photos were really detailed and you had them all saved in a ‘gallery’.
“You happy with the camera?” Logan asked as he saw you in the settings reading what each symbol meant.
“Yeah it's really good and I can take front facing photos.” You smiled at yourself. “Look!” Logan's eyes dropped to his face and he raised an eyebrow as you tapped the button. He huffed out a disbelieving laugh and you snapped again. “You're smiling!” You giggled to yourself, leaning forward. “Laura look.” Laura was playing about with dark mode and she turned her head to see you and her. “We can take a photo.”
Laura smiled and you poked your tongue out as you snapped. You made a heart shape with your hand and got her to copy it, snapping another.
“Logan, get in.” You begged.
He sighed - completely for show - and moved closer. “This angle is all chins.”
You frowned.
“Laura, come and sit up here.” He pat the slither of space between you two. She complied and you tried to get everyone in. “Y/N angle the phone.” You did as instructed and you all smiled.
The phone was heavy in your hands and an awkward shape, your old phone was a flip and easier to hold. “Do the heart thing whilst I hold this.”
The wolverines did.
You took some more, without noticing Wade was in the background, and eventually ceased, sixty-four photos later.
“This is so much fun.”
Wade watched you swiping through the photos, “Just you wait, pumpkin, ‘til you get a hold of the apps.”
“Apps?”
“Like little things on your phone.” He scrunched his face. “Like Snapchat or Instagram or Facebook.”
“I know Facebook.” You nodded. “It was an internet thing, like MySpace.”
“Now it's on an app.”
“Oh.” Was all you had in response. Wade showed you how to get to the app store - Logan, carefully, watching to make sure he wasn't being a little shit - and showed you how to ‘download an app’.
“I have to put my phone number in?” You stared at the screen.
“If that's what it says.” Wade had noticed Al and Gambit speaking again so upped and left. He laid himself across the two of them. “Just follow the steps.”
Okay.
You could do that.
Shit.
The first hurdle.
It asked for your date of birth.
Technically your date of birth was different now, no?
“What do I put?” You asked Logan over Laura's head. “I'm not that old.”
“Just do the maths, put the correct day and month but subtract the years.” He suggested.
“My date of birth would mean I can't have this app.” Laura commented. “Not over eighteen.” She had followed the instructions Wade told you and was now in the same dilemma.
“Do the same but backwards.” Logan tried.
You both, then, had to pick a profile picture. You had the photos on your phone and picked one of you three.
“I don't have a photo of myself.” Laura pressed the camera button and jumped. “Do-do I just take one?”
You smiled. “If you want to.”
“You don't have to have a picture.” Logan supplied.
Laura bit her lip but did decide to take one, she gave a small smile. “Is that okay?”
“You look lovely.” You squeezed her arm.
The two of you had just finished messing about with Facebook when you both received a notification.
‘Elektra Natchios had sent a friend request’, you looked up at her and quickly added.
Gambit and Blade didn't delve into Facebook, the former said he couldn't be bothered the latter told you it was too public.
You suppose Blade is right. But at the same time this is familiar. This is a way to find people. To potentially seek out your family. Or at least see if they exist.
You were just putting the phone away when another friend request popped up. ‘Logan Howlett has sent you a friend request’. He had no profile picture or cover photo and no posts. He did have friends, some of whom you recognised as the X-Men.
“Do you speak to them?” You swivelled your phone, displaying the friends.
“Charles has told them who I am and why I'm here. They accept anyone, they were eager to listen to my story. Probably waiting for you, now.”
“I don't think I can just add them.” Your fingers hovered over Hank’s fuzzy face.
“Then don't.”
“Why don't you have any pictures?”
“I don't really do pictures.”
You weren't too quick but opened your gallery. “You did here.”
“That was with you two.” He gave you a half shrug. “It's different.”
~~
Texting was fun.
You taught Laura all the old slang you used to use. BRB, LOL, TTYL, 411.
Laura did use some of them but preferred to text properly, she had spent a good portion of her time in EDEN and the Void learning basic reading and writing, why would she throw that away?
You were laying in Logan's bed, having claimed it four days ago, listening as his TV played music. He had shown you how to go onto YouTube via the TV and you were very much a fan of these Apps. You did feel a little guilty because you had effectively intruded on his space but his bed was comfy and smelled like him. God it was heavenly.
Why did he smell so good?
Y/N: nighty night beautiful x
Laura: Goodnight x
You had drilled into Laura the importance of kisses. A kiss at the end of the text was vital.
You came out of your messages, having texted the others ‘night’.
Gambit: see ya tomorrow
El: Night, love x
Blade: night
It was a routine you all wouldn't dare abandon. Whether or not you lived in this apartment all your lives you knew you'd all stick to saying goodnight. You had done for five years.
You pressed on Logan's name and sent him a message.
“Why are you texting me?” Logan called through the wall. You could hear his footsteps, sitting up, you waited. It wasn't long before the door was opened and Logan revealed himself.
Jesus. H. Christ.
Why was he shirtless? Your brain short circuited whenever his wide chest and mouth watering abs were in view. His torso was covered in soft hair your fingers itched to grab.
“I-I was just saying ‘night’.” You snapped your jaw shut.
“Oh, I thought you needed me.” He ran a hand through his hair.
You liked his short hair but you missed his fluffy locks. Nothing better than running your hands through them.
You were both now just gazing at each other.
He looked glorious, you felt self conscious. He could literally be a Grecian God, you could picture statues being made in his honour.
“You wanna-” Your eyes darted away. “You wanna sit with me?”
Why were you so awkward?
This was your husband friend.
Logan’s eyes widened an inch but he did nod. “Yeah sure.”
He made his way to the right side and plonked down. His weight caused you to slide a little over but you quickly righted yourself. You plucked the remote off of your knees and turned David Bowie down.
“I wanted to thank you.” You fiddled with the remote. “And I'm sorry I've stolen your bed.”
Logan shrugged. “You weren't well and I'd never kick you out of my bed.”
He was admitting things that were as innocent as they were damning.
“You're cute.”
“Hmm.” He raised his brow. “I remember you claiming that.”
There wasn't much more to say, instead you both listened as ‘ashes to ashes’ changed to ‘modern love’.
“This was my favourite song.” You commented, leaning your temple on his shoulder.
“I remember.” He agreed.
Pulling your head up in shock, “you do?”
“Yeah.” His eyes glanced at the screen. “My Y/N liked it too.”
“Do you- is this weird?”
“I don't know.”
“Do you miss your Y/N?”
He considered the question. “I didn't have enough of her. I think I missed the 'what ifs' and now I know you and him were married, it feels worse. What about you?”
“I miss him, it is a little weird to see you walking around with his face. It's odd because we slept together and I am attracted to you but there's that obstacle. Now the world isn't ending, we have to face the consequences of our actions, you know?” You hoped he understood what you meant. “Is it wrong to want you? You are so much like him yet I don't know you.”
You had said a lot of really important things, however he was stuck on just one. “You want me?”
That caused you to chuckle. “Of course, look at yourself. Sex on legs.”
He didn't care for moral dilemmas the way you did. You wanted him. He wanted you. It may just be his animal brain but, surely, that was the end of it.
“I mean you almost killed me walking in here all shirtless and tanned.”
You were trying to joke to defuse the tension but his eyes told you it wasn't working. They were heavy, lidded and staring straight into your soul. “As if you in my shirt, in my bed, hasn't done the same.” He spoke directly to your lips.
Oh yeah. For quickness you had borrowed a shirt, using it as a nightie. “Please, I'm not nearly as gorgeo-”
He cut you off with a kiss.
You melted.
Of course you did.
It was Logan.
Your hands found his cheek and chest. Both threading through the respective hair.
Logan slid his tongue across your bottom lip in a silent question and you were quick to answer. He kissed you frantically, needing you more than oxygen.
You were slowly being pressed into the mattress. It was a perk of the Adamantium, he was heavier than he meant and that solid mass turned you on.
You had to break the kiss to catch your breath and he merely explored your neck. Your ragged breaths were now being cut off as you spluttered and gasped.
Fuck.
Your hand on his cheek had meandered to his nape where you tugged at the hair as you twitched in pleasure, your back arching.
What were you saying earlier?
Consequences of actions?
None of that mattered when he bit down.
The position that he had manoeuvred you in caused your left leg to wrap around his hip as he kept nipping your neck. He loved to mark you.
Even if he didn't ‘claim’ you as his, back in the day, everyone knew because he would mark you. It was the animal in him. He needed the world to know who you belonged to.
“Logan.” You let out a breathy whisper against his temple.
The man raised his head to gaze into your eyes. Fuck. They were blown wide.
“Tell me to stop.” He warned.
You couldn't. Why would you?
Your response was a silent head shake.
Logan's eyes landed back onto your lips and he dipped to devour them.
His hands, that had been at your sides, were moving in opposite directions. One slid up to rest just under your breast and the other travelled down. Fingers tickling a path down to your core.
He played with the waistband of your underwear, pulling it taught against you and watching the wet patch smear.
Logan smirked and kissed your chin, then your neck, your collar bone, spent a while on your chest - licking and biting, claiming you, yet again - and then your stomach and finally kissed the material just above your core.
He swiped his tongue along the fabric and barely loosened his hold, before tearing it with his teeth.
By fuck.
This man would kill you one day.
The torn fabric hung loosely as he nuzzled his way between your folds, forcing your thighs over his shoulders. His nose separated the slick lips as he then ran his tongue across them. He fluttered his tongue around the wet hole and collected the slick on his muscle before depositing it on your clit. He took extra care caressing the sensitive bud, swirling his tongue sweetly.
The noises that came out of your mouth were whorish, you sounded like a two-bit 80s porn star and he loved every one.
Eventually Logan added a finger to your hole, it eased in, and curled it as he pumped his hand.
You tried so hard to keep it down, to try to sound less pornographic, but he was a monster. He knew how to get you going. In fact you were on the verge right now. Any second you'd be cumming on his finger.
“Keep going.” You begged.
Logan hummed in response and it vibrated your clit.
“Fuck, do that again.”
He began humming as he added a second finger and you saw stars. You clamped down and let out a moan as you came.
He kept pumping his fingers and lapped up your slick until you groaned and tapped his shoulder to give you a moment's respite.
Logan stilled his tongue with a frown but kissed your thighs, biting the pillowy flesh.
“Shit.” You looked down, dazed, at his smug face. “Fuck, you're perfect.”
“I can take my time with you now.” He admitted. “I couldn't back in the Void, not like I wanted to.”
“You did a pretty good job then, too.” You recalled.
He rolled his eyes but continued placing languid kisses on your abdomen. “You are the perfect one. This pussy is delicious.”
His devotion caused you to bite your lip. “Fuck me.” You order.
“I like it down here.” He suggested nuzzling his nose on your clit.
Your argument died with the groan that forced its way out of you.
He sucked at your clit and you swore you ripped strands of his hair out. It was a shame because his hair was so soft.
Logan lapped at your pussy all he wanted, building you up slowly.
“Do me a favour?” He spoke between your folds, they muffled him a little. “Hands and knees?”
You nodded, deliriously and eased your way up, spinning to present yourself like a needy bitch.
Logan growled at the sight, your dripping pussy spread for him.
He buried his face, again, but carried on upwards. His tongue now circling your other hole. You twitched at the new sensation but found you enjoyed it just as much so let him have his fun.
He kept playing with you, teasing you with his fingers until you were shaking.
“Logan.” You warned.
He seemed to understand because he kept the same rhythm, rather than interrupting, and you came again.
He milked your orgasm again and licked a stripe from your clit to your ass, across your spine and back up to your neck.
“Mine.” He growled in your ear as you felt his tip line up. Both of his hands were on you, underneath his shirt, caressing your tits so it amazed you that you felt him notch and slowly ease his head into you.
Your eyes crossed in pleasure as he pulled out and pushed back in, the hole so wet it squelched louder than you could moan.
He huffed, unhappy with your shirt and ripped another item of clothing you were wearing. The shirt was discarded behind you but the waistband of your panties still sat on your hips, slowly moving higher with each thrust.
You knew he was holding himself back, afraid he'd hurt you, so as he pushed in you pushed back.
You cried out as he hit that spot inside you. “Harder.”
Logan caught your drift and picked up the pace. It really didn't take a lot of convincing.
He slammed into you from behind, pushing you further into the mattress, making you present yourself more.
He sat up and if he could die, he wanted this to be the last thing he saw.
You were amazing.
He collected all of your hair and eased you upwards, once again, nipping at your nape. There was something about the nape that transfixed him. He loved your smell and you smelt the most from your nape, he adored it but his own mingled with yours was something else entirely.
He needed you.
It was so painfully obvious.
How had he not admitted that to his version of you?
What a fucking idiot he was.
“Lo.” You could only say his name but he knew. You were close.
“Mmhmm.” He agreed, nibbling your earlobe. “I need another one, c’mon.”
You couldn't even hear his request over your third orgasm. This was different though. This was wetter. You instantly worried, what was happening? But Logan gasped.
“Fuck.” He stuttered inside you, pushing you down as his claws made an appearance at each side of your shoulders. “Fuck did you just squirt?”
“I-I don't know.” Your voiced muffled into the pillow, a hand patted your utterly soaked legs. “I've not done that before.”
He groaned, still rocking inside you. Logan held himself up via his claws and pounded into you with a whole new energy. He was frantic, frenzied. It didn't take long for him to spill inside.
His claws still barely held his weight but he wouldn't crush you.
“Shit, sorry.” He spoke once his senses returned. “I should've as-”
“Shut up, that was more than fine.” You panted against the pillow.
Logan kissed your temple and slowly retracted from the mattress and you. As soon as he was out you felt empty.
“Hmm.” You grumbled.
“What?” He chuckled.
“Put it back in.”
Logan knew you were real but he found himself in disbelief that someone this perfect could exist.
“Let's swap positions and I will.” He flopped over onto his spine and you followed sheathing his dick back into you.
You groaned and found yourself relaxing onto his chest.
This was possibly the best day you'd ever had.
“I'm sleepy but wake me up in an hour and we can do that again.” You gave him a cheeky wink.

anyway, here’s a preview of the next jason + sionis!reader fic | 18+
tw; reader’s an asshole maybe? a girl failure, perhaps?
"I said, 'are you sober'. You look sober. Are you?"
Jason Todd blinks, like he still doesn't quite understand the question. He straightens his posture, jostling the untouched pint of something between his middle finger and thumb.
"I-yeah, I am. Are you?"
You cross your arms, roll your eyes again and ignore the question. Obviously, you're sober.
"Do you know who I am?"
He looks you over thoughtfully. His gaze conveniently lingers on the pop of your hip and the cleavage peeking out of your ruby neckline. Exactly where you want it. You snicker; so maybe he's a little slow, but at least he doesn't seem to be blind.
"You're Sionis' kid, aren't you? It's been a hot minute," Jason leans forward a little, magically more invested in the conversation. The ginger man standing next to him pauses his attempts to woo a brunette to raise an eyebrow at you.
"My dad hates you."
He scoffs, taking a half hearted sip of his beer.
"And bears shit in the woods, what else is new?"
You don't remember him having that stupid white streak in his too-well-tousled hair. It was sexy. You hated it.
"Fuck me."
IPA dribbles down his idiotically strong chin. His mouth goes a little slack as he blinks once again, harder and longer this time.
"What?"
Ugh, again with the repetition.
"Fuck me. Have sex with me," you reiterate as nonchalantly as if you're asking him to move over.
The redhead next to him starts cackling. Jason glowers at him, shoving the drink into his hand with one arm while pulling you closer with the other. It only takes him a gentle tug to pull your chest to broad chest. He leans down so his lips brush against your ear.
"Hey, you sure you're sober?"
The warmth of his breath in contrast with his mouth, still cool from his glass, sends a shiver down your spine.
"I'm dead sober."
"Okay, you see how I might doubt that given you just walked up to me and asked me to have sex with you."
You push him away and it's like pushing into a brick wall. A very muscular brick wall. "Look, Wayne-"
"Todd."
"Whatever. Even if I wanted to drink, I couldn't because my father drained my entire bank account."
Jason tilts his head, causing a lock of white hair to fall across his crooked nose.
"And why'd he do that?"
You hum amiably, curling your pretty maroon nails around his thick forearm.
"I'll tell you if you fuck me," you promise, batting your eyelashes as you place your other hand over his heart. Much to your frustration, his heartbeat is slow and steady. His sharp face has lost its earlier shock. He looks at ease, pleasantly entertained, with a slight smirk and a cocked slitted eyebrow.
"I think that's called extortion, baby girl."
"It's only extortion if I'm threatening you," you snap back. You should know, your father's an expert in it. You take a small breath, smoothing out your tone again, "I'm just keeping my business to myself. So, I'd call this more of a quid pro quo."
"It's a quid pro quo if I'm getting something substantial out of it," he says this but at the same time, two large hands are sliding over your hips with a featherlight touch. His nails briefly press into your skin.
Something in your belly tightens. Maybe he’s a more worthy opponent than you’d initially assumed.
You tip your head up as you stand on your tiptoes and sneak your much smaller hands under his jacket, brushing up his warm sides. He sucks in a sharp breath.
"If you really had no desire to fuck me, this conversation would've ended by now,” your voice is dripping in something venomously sweet. “And I'm not going to claim I have any idea of what's happening in your own business, but if I had to take a wild guess as to who in this room has the most to gain from fucking Roman Sionis' daughter, you'd be at the top of the list. Even if it's just for the bragging rights."
"You're worth more than just bragging rights, princess,” he says, rolling a fold of your dress between his fingers with a condescending shake of his head. You wonder if he can feel the heat radiating from underneath.
"Prove it."
"...and you're sure you're sober?"
"Wanna test my breath?"
He snorts at your bad line, but his index and thumb are already caging your chin between them. He considers you for one more moment, then kisses you.
You can taste the single sip of beer, but it’s not as strong as the fading taste of a cigarette. His lips move against yours with intent, as if seeking out a falter in your sobriety. Their search comes up empty, leaving behind nothing but a thin string of spit and the overwhelming desire for more of him.
"What's your plan then? Risk it in a bathroom stall?"
You loath how utterly girlish the grin on your lips is.
"Nah, I know a spot upstairs."

JUST THE ALCOHOL TALKING.
— certainly a confession.
summary : after a casual night of drinks, you're alone with your friend wally, and it seems like there's something he's got to say...
yet again wally west had outdone himself.
sometimes kids just want to be kids, and spend their days off playing drinking games; but sometimes wally can't handle his alcohol, or might drink too much of what's offered. a normal reaction would be to get annoyed, but everyone's used to his antics now.
whilst a cool night breeze whipped in through the open window, of which everyone else had squeezed through for a smoke break or fresh air (which don't normally go well together), you remained by wally's side as his eyelids lowered and rose sleepily over his green irises.
he's not the only one fighting sleep; you hadn't drank too much tonight, but last night's patrol had taken a lot out of you — but who were you to decline hanging out with your friends?
you gave a sniff as the show on the television went to another commerical break — there are too many of those nowadays — and leaned forward to swipe the tv remote from the empty beer can-spattered coffee table.
as your back hit the plush cushions once again, an arm extended to point the remote at the screen, something ghostly began blazing into your side; a presence, a watcher.
the show switched as you pressed down a channel, but you glanced over to your right, to find a limp, down-pulled set of eyelids fluttering at you, and the sound from the television became mere background noise.
sure, wally was drunk — the drunkest of everybody tonight by far — but something in the way he peered lazily up at you caused your stomach to quiver.
hey— no, he's drunk, don't think like that.
"what you looking at, big guy?" you teased, tearing your eyes away from him for the moment to change the channel again.
but you hadn't expected him to actually reply; him with his slowly rising and falling chest, him with his limp neck lulling as it rested on the back of the couch, him with one arm stretched lazily, fingers inches away from brushing the nape of your neck.
"you," wally breathed heavily, shifting onto his side to look up at you. "and there are two of you so that makes it better."
even as you attempted to laugh it off, that fluttering in your stomach returned, and you only looked back at the tv screen as you flicked on another channel.
you thought that would be the end of it; he's been managing to stay awake the past three hours in this state, surely he'd nod off now. surely...
"i dunno if it's the alcohol talking," he began, words slurred and sluggish, tilting even more so to face you, one of his legs coming up lazily to tuck against himself, the other remaining outstretched. "but i really, really like you."
oxygen hitched in your throat, suddenly unable to pass through your nostrils, nor go back down to your lungs. your mouth hung slightly open, eyes glued to the scene of patrick verona bugging kat stratford at her soccer practice that you'd coincidentally flipped on to.
this had to be the alcohol talking — wally west didn't like you.
you liked him. he couldn't like you.
that's just... not how it would work.
your heart fluttered with every childish laugh he gave at every immature joke he made. your eyes always found his vibrant toss of red hair in a crowd, no matter how large. your fingers always flinched towards him if he got too close, before you pulled yourself away from him completely.
he could never see you like that; you knew him, he just didn't do that.
even as your stare stayed stuck on the movie ahead, his tired eyes still burned holes in your flesh, turned the whole right side of your body fuzzy.
"i'm sorry," he hiccupped from beside you, moving away, the warmth radiating from his fingers at the nape of your neck dissipating. "i shouldn't... burden you. with this."
"hey, hey—"
before you could stop yourself, you were reaching out for him again, your palm finding his forearm and your fingers taking it carefully, but firm enough to halt him in his movements.
lips parted, eyebrows raising although his lids stayed hung low, wally stared up at you.
"sorry," you muttered, grip relaxing. "but, no, it's okay. you can... you can stay. we can just– talk about this in the morning, okay?"
nodding slowly, wally carefully rolled back beside you, although his shoulder was pressed against yours now.
"if you can remember it."
his head craned up to look at you, a lazy offense upon his features. "hey, i'll— i'll remember it. i'll remember it..."
but now as he lay beside you, body against body, you felt his bones slacken, and his weight began to fall against you, until his head was pressed right in the crook of your neck.
please, god, let him remember.

coffee bar celebration
Something must have knocked you in the temple, that was the only reasonable explanation for the pounding headache currently splitting you in two.
Eyes fluttering beneath your lids, you tried to take in your surroundings without sight, the additional sense would only serve to drive your headache further. Soft sheets, high thread count, a comfortable quilt, a breeze hitting your cheeks. Open window? The scent of snow, freshly fallen, and hot chocolate somewhere. No other signs of life you could detect. The entire ritual took you several minutes to complete.
“We know you're awake,” a rough, hard, male voice said. An angry voice. “You might as well open your eyes.” You'd missed that very important detail somehow. He must've been shielding himself. Heart pounding in your chest, sensation ricocheting through your body, you listened to the voice and blinked your eyes open.
You were greeted by the most beautiful male you'd ever seen, leaning against the wall next to a half-open window, his arms crossed, eyes dark with fury. A beautiful nightmare. The second after the thought registered, his expression changed.
-
Rhys knew the moment you blinked those pretty, traitorous eyes open that you had no idea where you were. Your thoughts practically screamed at him, he didn't need to slip into your mind.
'Play along,' he spoke wordlessly to Azriel and Feyre, receiving different forms of agreement and caution coming back. Tucking his hands into his pockets, he crossed the few feet separating the wall from the bed.
“That was quite the fall you took,” he changed the tone in his voice to something softer, something a lover might take.
Sitting next to you on the bed, he bent over to inspect the wound, perfectly shaped like truth tellers pommel.
Barely ghosting his finger over it, you still winced away from him, covering it with your own hand, shoving yourself up to sit. He caught your shoulder, hand warm against your cool skin, steadying you as you swayed.
“Who are you?”
“Rhys.”
“Who are you to me?” You added, voice sharp and suspicious. That wouldn't do, if this last minute change of plans was to work.
“We're your partners,” Feyre said, expression perfectly sweet and melancholy. You blinked, eyes tracking from her to Azriel who assessed from the back of the room, his shadows swirling around his wrists and neck, nearly corporeal.
“I need a nap,” you slid yourself back down, curling onto your side. Rhys had an idea on how he could fill your dreams. It wasn't too early to start planting you back into your new reality.
-
The woman, from earlier, was at your side. Her name popped into your mind, Feyre. It rolled perfectly off your tongue, would sound even better if you were - you cut off your line of thinking, she might know you but you hardly knew her. Still, you couldn't deny she was absolutely gorgeous.
Her hands ghosted down your sides, stopping to grip your hips, pushing them down into the bed as she climbed in between them, her mouth pressing kisses over the fabric of your clothing, nipping in some areas. You gasped with each new sensation, each new press of her fingers.
Other hands joined, Rhys's slipping up your shirt, cool to your skin. Pleasure built and built as he idly, lazily, circled the peak of your breast.
Rough hands, the other male. The name, like magic, popped into your mind - Azriel. He rolled one nipple between two fingers, before leaning down over your to take it in his mouth. His soft hair brushed against your skin as his teeth tugged. Tightness coiled in your belly, Feyre's hands gripped your waist band. You gasped.
And woke.
Alone.

Kissing, lighting and sleepy sex for Hideout Steve and Reader?
I am not prepared. My feels...they shall be too deep and endless. I shall try anyway.
From this dirty ask game for this AU series where Nomad Steve lets motel-employee!Reader soothe his touch-starved body. Lawd, halp me, this is about to get crunk in a tooth-rotting, put-some-pillows-beneath-you you're-gonna-faint type o' way. [y'all can't tell I drank during the eclipse today, right? I'm subtle? Cool.] MINORS DNI.
K - Kissing
ACK My heart! Or rather, there is something deeply adoring for Steve when you kiss his chest, over his heart. It makes him feel just that much more like a person who lives in this world, who belongs in this world, who will return one day to this world...
His hands are also a big one--no, not just actually big hands, but important to show love to because he uses them for such violence. Each kiss is like a little touch of forgiveness for what he's done or had to do with those hands. He appreciates the trust it takes, too, to kiss his palms, when he could easily stop you breathing (sorry, that sounds dark, but Nomad was in a dark place, okay, bad things occur to him now).
Steve loves to kiss your stomach, and it might be somewhat taboo to say, but he has a touch of that crawl-back-home-for-safety comfort thing going on when he presses close and holds your center to him. It's not a mommy kink or roleplay, per se; he relishes the connectedness of being one and curling up against you is the only non-sexual way he knows how to achieve that--like in Chapter 3 when he falls asleep in that position.
As far as leaving marks though? Steve can emphatically say 'hell no,' not on purpose. Pain is a bit, meh, weird for him because he heals so quickly. He might not even notice if you did bite or bruise him. He certainly wouldn't see it in the morning. He does not in any way associate marks with love or affection since he only ever saw them on himself after fights or on women (including his Ma) after being abused.
That is not love to Steve.
It's control, it's dominance, it's inequality, and he fucking hates it.
L - Lighting
Steve entirely defers to you on whether there are actual lights on or off. He likes to use his senses to explore and enjoy you, so without light is fine. He's just here for you.
Steve does, however,--no spoilers for Chapter 5--like ambiance such as candles or something dim and colorful. He thinks you'd look unbelievably perfect beside a sparkling Christmas Tree. He hopes to celebrate (all holidays and birthdays and everything) openly with you some day. The sooner the better.
(Except, no audience for him making love to you under those twinkling lights, please. He's staunchly opposed to that sort of thing.)
S - Sleepy Sex
So, again, no spoilers for Chapter 5, but once Steve gets comfortable with oral sex he is comfortable with oral sex, if you catch my drift.
If he wakes up first, he's on you in some way, arms and legs draped over you, kissing any place he can get to, man-handling you just enough to start something he 100% will finish. He's just...uh god, so attentive.
With the super senses and being a fugitive though, it's not often that you can wake up before him, truly, which limits or completely removes the ability to surprise him with a blowjob, but he will dreamily let you roam wherever your mouth and hands take you. As long as there's lots of contact. As much as possible really. Like lay your arms across his thighs and abs while playing with him. Maybe put your body over one of his legs and ride his foot if you need to. He must feel attached in some way. Cold, distant, or separated does not do it for him.
Here's my absolute, I-will-die, favorite thing about Hideout Steve though: when he's tired/fatigued/worn out/sleepy, he gets louder.
Much. Much. Louder, babes.
No cursing, mostly, but all the moans and groans and whining are totally dialed up. And I don't know about y'all, but I can't really think of anything fucking sexier than Nomad Steve screaming that he's gonna come.
🥵
